Re: 1978 lancer coupe g54bt project
Getting closer. All my piping is done and bolted in. If I keep up the work, I will probably have it running tomorrow. http://www.nwstarquest.com/coltlancer/coltlancer-g54b-23.jpg http://www.nwstarquest.com/coltlancer/coltlancer-g54b-24.jpg http://www.nwstarquest.com/coltlancer/coltlancer-g54b-25.jpg

Re: 1978 lancer coupe g54bt project
Thanks man. I had it all planned out until I ran into hood hard pipe issues. I got bored and went to mess with the other side. Unfortunately my original plan of running a 2.5inch 180 bend off the throttle body wouldnt work as it hits the hood. So right now, I am running the stock ovcp and then I gra...

Re: 1978 lancer coupe g54bt project
Got my turbo to intercooler hardpipe finished. Not the best, but it works. The hard part will be doing the intercooler to intake. I still need to either bead roll the ends or add a few spot welds, along with powder coat them. http://www.nwstarquest.com/coltlancer/coltlancer-g54b-17.jpg http://www.nw...

Re: Anyone done a hydraulic clutch conversion to a lb?
I didnt bother. I've done it with brackets on auto to manual starion swaps, but frankly, the pedal is plenty secure enough with just the studs going through the firewall. It may be different with a really heavy duty pressure plate, but the stock setup or even a ebay 6 puck setup doesnt put enough pr...

Re: Anyone done a hydraulic clutch conversion to a lb?
It wasnt that bad. I installed it a while back. I got it up about as high as I could, and I still have a full pedal throw, so i'm happy. Here is a pic. I havent done anything with the old pedal yet. Guess I can double clutch hehe. http://www.nwstarquest.com/coltlancer/coltlancer-g54b-07.jpg http://w...

Just a few more pics. Nothing special. Mounted the fuel pump in the trunk as I didnt find any nice places to do it under the car. I need a surge tankbut this will have to due for now. http://www.nwstarquest.com/coltlancer/coltlancer-g54b-12.jpg harness ran in the engine bay. I used the stock starion...

Re: 1978 lancer coupe g54bt project
Made a little more progress tonight. Mounted the fuel filter and fuel lines up front, bolted the slave cylinder on, and ran the harness. It's about 3/4 the way hooked up. Did a bunch of other crap that isnt worth mentioning also.

Re: 1978 lancer coupe g54bt project
Made some more progress today after taking a few days off. I started out by mocking up the intercooler. This car fits a 31x12x3 ic very nicely inbetween the bumper and the frame. I finished the oil cooler positioning and mounted it. Grill clears n all :) Clutch line was installed I also drilled out ...

eh, it's better than it was, but i need to cut n weld up a small patch panel in the bottom of the back of the rear quarter where the outter shell and the inner shell meets. Needs a lot of small dents fixed and a paint job one of these days.

Re: 1978 lancer coupe g54bt project
Made some more progress today. Got the starion clutch pedal assembly fitted up. That was the only real big issue I had with the swap, and now it's done. I wouldnt say it was hard, but it was a real pain in the butt. I elongated most of the holes a little to make fitting it easier. I still have to cu...

Re: 1978 lancer coupe g54bt project
thanks. I had to take a break the last 2 days to buy a beater 81 corolla 5 spoeed coupe for the gf, and then do a clutch on it. It's freaken -8.8celsius right now. Bit to cold to work at night even with the heater. I did make some progress though. Ironically, flipping the stock 4 speed crossmember u...

Re: idler arm issues
I'd have to show video. The button on top moves back and forth which is the stud basically.
So basically you can take the wheel and turn it left and right a little, That stud wobbles a bit back and forth without affecting the center link. It creates some horrible slop.

sounds like this is going to be the worst part about the swap. I'm tempted to go buy a d50 trans and hope it lasts lol.

I dont think anyone likes american bumpers lmao. They REALLLLY ruin the 74-76 galants. Yeah I picked those rewinds up with new t1r tires for like 400 bucks. Re: idler arm issues
There doesnt seem much to screw up upon installing them. Granted it could be my driving over speedbumps at high speed.. lol I havent been running anything but 195 14 wheels with +15 offset. None of the steering linkage was bad other than my idler. Everything else is nice and tight and I've lubed the...

Re: Anyone done a hydraulic clutch conversion to a lb?
I was thinking of taking the entire starion pedal assembly, since I cant get acces to my welder util the end of the month. I havent looked under the dash yet to see if I can even do this. Hopefully there is enough room for the starion pedal setup because you can just use the master mounting portion ...

Anyone done a hydraulic clutch conversion to a lb?
I'm going to be doing it pretty soon. I'm going to try and use a pedal off a starion, but I figure I might as well ask here first and see if anyone else has done it, and what pedal setup they used?

idler arm issues
I've been having a hell fo a time with my idler arms just getting sloppy real qiuck. I notice the stud starts wobbing after a bit. The one that came witht eh car started doing it, I bought another, and it's probably worn out in about 10k miles. This is getitng to be a hard to find and expensive prob...

Re: 1978 lancer coupe g54bt project
Here are some older pics. Unfortunately I havent been able to find any car parts like fenders n what not state side. They are quite rare these days. I figure I just need to buy them when i see them. The car needs some interior bits, and some body work. I need to repair a small rusted out area in the...

1978 lancer coupe g54bt project
I broke a chunk out of my g32b due to some fuel pump failure I believe a while back, so I was debating on what to do. I was going to 4g32 turbo, or 4g63 twin cam na swap it, but this seemed to be the cheapest route. I already had pulled out the freshly rebuilt g54bt because I thought I might have bl...

Adding a few pics. A few updates. My turbo water reurn line spawned a leak near the spark plugs and blasted the entire engine with water for a few days. Gotta reclean the damn engine and engine bay now. Might be getting some simmons 15x10 and 15x11.5 mesh pretty soon. Running just a resonator under ...

you lucky bastards. They are rare as all hell here. Probably the second rarest japanese van behind the nissan vanette. We only got one model and it was a automatic 4g64. Not even a manual trans option.
