Are you running the standard mechanical fuel pump, or an electric one?
Sounds like it's starving for fuel, which can mean either bad fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, or possibly vapour lock.
When it happens again, check for spark to confirm.
Cheers.

Re: 4g54
Was getting approx 147hp(110kw)at the wheels in an NA 4g54 running E85. Not a wild build, but at around 12.5:1 compression, it definitely more than a mild engine. Built it as my daily driver, so longevity took precedence over power. Sorry but I have no idea on engine builders in Brisbane as I am in ...

Cam can stay in, you just need to remove the cam gear from the cam and sit it on the steel rest that is under it. If the only thing wrong with the head is the sparkplug thread, I'd jut get it fixed. If there is anything else wrong, it might be worth getting a later Magna head(TR/TS), as they are a b...

Re: Km119 disassembly - Help!
There should be 2 grub screws on the side of the housing, under a dob of silicone. They limit the throw of the shifter. You will need to remove them to be able to remove the extension housing. MAKE SURE you measure their depth before you remove them as they will need to go back in at the same depth....

Re: Curing the Astron's woeful timing(chain) waltz - with a
Crank angle sensor is a must if you are serious about building a strong EFI astron. Chain v belt, not so much. Too much work involved in sealing up all the front of the engine to be a viable proposition. "A" grade chain will last OVER 80,000 Kilometres with no issues. Losses chain v belt i...

Re: Scorpion (US Sapporo) 10 bolt diff centre options?
If memory serves me correctly, your Sapporo has an IRS setup which is the same as the US Starion. The Australian "Sapporo" never landed here with that option BUT, apart from the rear strut tower, all the mounting points are still there. I know for a fact that the early Australian Starion h...

Re: Tech question. Why dont exaust valve stems run dry/coke
Valve stem seals CONTROL the amount of oil that the valve stems receive, not block all the oil. The guides, like the rest of the head are cooled by the water flowing through the head. This removes heat from the valve stem and allows the oil do it's thing. Cast iron and bronze valve guides are "...

Re: High Power Rear End/Diff What are you guys using?
EX-Lancer and Small JA-JB Starion Diff centers are the same size as the 10 bolt Jap diff and will bolt straight in. The EVO centers (and possibly the VR4's as well) are a bit different. The axle size is larger than an 8 bolt jap diff and BW, but smaller than the 10 bolt. The actual diff centre is cl...

Re: 96mm over bore
The web between the cylinders would be VERY thin.
Bore centreline spacing 101.1mm.
96mm pistons.
This would equal 5.1mm between the cylinders, and almost a 2.9l
Not a good recipe for reliability, but would be more torquey.

Re: fuel presure regs and adaptors tn/tp magna
Rising rate FPR are good IF you are running high boost and smaller injectors than the specified HP. This improves idle and low rpm / boost response. BUT THE PROBLEM IS.... some injectors won't open properly with the increased fuel pressure forcing them to stay closed. This problem is worsened with H...

First thing is are you using your GE sigma dizzy OR the GK dizzy.
The GE has the ignition module on the inner guard of the engine bay, near the battery where the GK wll have the ignition module on the dizzy itself.
Cheers.

Re: Scorpion brakes on GE Sigma?
In Australia, the GE/GH Sigma's run a BorgWarner diff, which uses a totally different brake arrangement and attachment points. The entire diff from a GE/GH Scorp can be swapped in, (the 10 bolt GH diff is preferable) but you also require all the arms, hand brake cables, as well as the tailshaft, bec...

I'd look into making/adapting a Crank Angle Sensor and just delete the Cam Angle Sensor all together.

My first question to everyone is what are they worth? One was $1550 another $1400? Depends. Typically a good one will go for around $900- out of the JB Starions (what they consider a small diff). My second question is, does the turbo sigma GK shape ( 4 door starion) import, can anyone confirm this ...

One good reason I have my own home web site. Not hard to do, but you do need to have a PC that is on all the time.
Some of the newer Routers/Modems also allow you to run a mini web server with the content stored on a USB stick or external HDD.
Worth a thought..

I'm not getting a spark while doing step 6 and 7 but i have spark at the plug when cranking the engine. Most likely the timing is out. To confirm you have spark: 1: Remove Sparkplug 1 2: Remove and label the other leads so the engine can't start. 3: With the ignition off, turn the engine over by hand until No:1 cylinder is on the compression stroke ( seal your finger over the sparkplug hole and feel when there is a lot of pressure)...
