Re: Redline manifolds
Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but from what I have seen, the belt drive engines have another water port between the 3rd and 4th intake runners. http://www.rpw.com.au/shop/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/27906747fdfce79bdc22e6a45924d416.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3599/...

You can get 0.5mm aluminium from Bunnings. I have got 3mm aluminium from Paramount Browns, and they have up to 13mm.

Re: Cottees' 1987 Sigma GN GSR Super Edition
Not overspray, but I did it on purpose. Just thought it would look interesting if one of the tips of the blades was blue when it went round and round. As for the metal work, it doesn't look as good close up. Once it has been neatened up, it'll be better. At the moment I am using some tin snips, a ha...

Re: Interesting Magna ECU article
This is a prime example of why the forums are awesome. A place to share and learn  As for the difficulty of doing the capacitor replacement, the hardest part I found was the de-soldering part. I was using the soldering iron + de-solder braise. When putting the new caps in, it is pretty eas...

Re: Interesting Magna ECU article
Cottees, are those new capacitors a different value to the old or just smaller physically?? thanks cheers The only differences is the physical size and heat rating. The old ones were 85C I think, and the new ones are 105C. At the time I didn't realise that caps came in various sizes for the same va...

Re: Interesting Magna ECU article
The article seems to be just the guy trying to make people think that only he can repair ECUs, and justify the high price for doing so. The age isn't a real problem if looked after properly. Capacitors can be dodgy, but if replaced, will continue to work well. I have a computer from 1983 that still ...

I took the rocker cover off to clean it up. I didn't bother taking the shield off. Once off, I got a good view of how the shield also is in front of the spark plugs. http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt288/Cottees/Sigma/IMG_3818_zps0c7cf949.jpg http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt288/Cottees/Sigma...

I have set mine up for a TR/TS manual, and either ECU worked. Better to be safe and set it up for manual, and use a manual ECU etc.

Re: ULP rubbish
I only ever buy from Caltex, but run my GN with TR/TS EFI off ULP and it runs well. The ECU is meant to be able to also run on PULP 95, but have yet to test it out. The only car I have had issues with is the LC, but that is cause the compression is way too high for ULP. I run that off Caltex Vortex ...

Re: EFI wiring / sensors
I forget who put it up , but it looks so simple. It was me, and it is simple. That diagram only shows what was modified to connect the Sigma loom to the TR/TS magna engine loom. The rest of the wires from the ECU are as standard. For more in-depth about it, check out my GN build thread, link in my ...

Re: EFI..........Magna TR inlet question.
In a GE/GH yes you would have to shorten the runners, or use a TN/TP intake. For a GJ-GN, it will fit completely unmodified. Usual mod is to bring the throttle body to the front of the plenum and the thermostat housing to the front of the intake. Or like GB_BB4C, just move the throttle body. Or like...

The sump gasket I bought was too big.... ...I made it fit. FFR.. Magna or GN sump gasket would have worked fine for they both are narrow Astron ENGINES, which are different to Narrow BLOCK Astron engines (referring to the bell housing size). Does anyone have a good clean photo of the side decal that was on the Scorpions? Also know the measurements for it? I am planning on making reproduction decals, and have yet to find a good photo of the decal to work from.

Re: Baby 904 vs BW35
In my GN, I have a BW40. For the kickdown, I attached a steel cable from the kickdown cable from the trans, and hooked the other end to the standard TR/TS throttle body. I can't find a pic of that at the moment. It worked well, till that cable snapped. http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt288/Cottee...

Re: maximum head shave 4g54
I am not too sure how much my G52B/4G52 head has been shaved since it has been done a couple times, but the height of the combustion chamber is 16.1mm. That along with oversized pistons worked well with a compression ratio of 11.4:1.

Re: Power Steering
Short answer is probably not. I have yet to actually try and fit one, but I'd say it would be a tight squeeze. Where the steering box and steering column join would be very close to the firewall. If that clears ok, you would need to shorten the steering column as well. If it wont fit, I have read so...

Yep, Commodore V8 owners take them. The HSV V8s uses the same Bosch 0-280-150-775 injectors as the TR/TS Magnas. They use them as a cheap upgrade to their cars.
