Re: issues many issues

If you think about what a vacuum advance does, then you may realise it isn't going to make it "run bad". At idle, the vac advance should not be operational. Once the throttle is opened, it starts to see vacuum and advance the timing. If you open the throttle more (accelerating), the vacuum...

Looks good, but it needs a few things, EFI 2.6, big brakes, sport steering wheel and different wheels. I have 3 out of 4 in stock :) One stop shop!! Re: LC Lancer Hatch

Do you have any plans for it or just see what developes? Initially it will just sort minor things to make it nicer to drive (ie suspension and A/C) and reliable. Its got to stay 'P' plater legal, but I can see a 4G54 with EFI making its way in there... (H) Take the front blinkers off, and swap them...

Re: Lower control arms

I've got the Galant tie rods to try.

I reckon the LCAs need to be LONGER to get some neg camber - but it looks like the guards will fit on easily the way it is, so I will leave it until the thing is running.

Re: Lower control arms

So, a little off topic but... Lancer crossmembers do NOT "bolt in" to a GA/B Galant. They can be made to fit :D GJ Sigma lower control arms bolt up, no problem. GJ Sigma (4 bolt) strut tops can be redrilled to Galant/Lancer (3 bolt) It is then a simple matter to bolt in GJ struts, complete...

I've owned GA sedan, GB sedan. GC wagon. GE sedan, GH sedan. GJ sedan (not in that order).

Best car to drive is the GA/GB

Re: GA Khancross Project - "Morgan"

A little bit of progress. Made a gearbox mount out of 2 halves of GJ ones. This got the shape I wanted. Crossmember is bolted using original rubber mounts and bolts to some 25mm RHS welded to the floorpan . This gives me room to run an exhaust between the crossmember and the chassis rail. Bought a r...

There is a sorted GE rally car, with cage etc on this very forum.
$5k and it could be yours.

Don't even contemplate building anything for that $$.

My Sigma was done on the super-cheap over several years and cost $3k, no cage.

I had a GJ khanacross car until recently. The issues as I see them as a rally car - from the point of view of someone has "raced" one. Heavy - 1250 kg - about the same as an early Commodore. Brakes - no easy upgrade, standard won't cope. Diff - not the strongest thing, no easy upgrade. Cos...

Re: Step by step after market ECU

A lot will depend on what ECU you use. MAP or original airflow sensor? Original idle control, or something else? Things like the injector wires are easy, just check the colours on the injector plugs and find them at the ECU plug. Some aftermarket ECUs may not be able to use the TR idle control or ai...

Re: narrow block in to wide block car?

The wide and narrow refers to the bellhousing mounts, not the engine mounts. Either engine will bolt onto the crossmember exactly the same. But when it comes time to bolt the gearbox on, won't fit. A narrow block and gearbox "set" is completely interchangeable with a wide block and gearbox...

Late starter (Magna?) by the look of it.
Magnas don't have the same sort of engine mount, so no issues.

Freight to Melb would be $20 via TNT road for up to 20 kg (2 sets of little discs).
GH fronts list at $45 each
Total would be $110

Freight to Perth for 2 sets of GC discs is $37
For 2 x GC set and 1 x GH set would be $52
Total $109 GCs only
or $214 for GCs + GHs

DBA have them in stock

Just looking at some Disc Brakes Australia (DBA) pricing today.

GC/D Galant, LA/B/C Lancer, GE Sigma front discs $18 each
GE/H/J/K/L Scorpion rear discs $18 each
JA/B/D Starion rear discs $18 each

Seems pretty cheap!

Not sure on availability, but thought there might be some interest.
