Re: Rear side windows
They do fit, kind of, but you will need the complete mechanism from the later car as the holes in the glass don't match. Bought a GH scorp which someone had used "liquid nails" to hold the later glass into the early mechanism. While the glass is a different shape and size, it still fit and...

Good work scott! Thanks.. Getting there slowly.. Installed the Capacitive Discharge Ignition system and finished plumbing in the MAC valve (pics to come) to control the waste-gate. http://blackman-research.myvnc.com/SG/CARS/GH_TURBO_SCORP/CDI.jpg Also, a few more parts arrived. some lase...

Re: Fueling issues 4g52 swapped MD l200
Sounds like you have a dud fuel pump. Some of them are able to be rebuilt, but, the problem is the service kits usually cost around the same as a new pump. Remove the fuel line from the carby and place the hose in an empty container. Turn the engine over the engine over for 10 seconds and if you sho...

Re: Fueling issues 4g52 swapped MD l200
Have you replaced the fuel filter?
Had a similar problem with a MK Triton. The filter was "hidden" behind one of the chassis rails near the fuel tank.
Also, is the fuel pump electric or the mechanical one that runs off the cam?
Cheers.

Well, decided to go with the wasted spark coil setup. As you might be able to see, the Flex_Fuel sensor has also been mounted to the side of the Fuel Pressure Regulator. http://blackman-research.myvnc.com/SG/CARS/GH_TURBO_SCORP/ENGINE_BAY.jpg Temporarily cable-tied the fuel lines and spark-plug lead...

Re: My new GH Turbo project..
Perfect 8-) Thanks for the heads up Sigmaproject. Will post a few more pics in the next few days. Modified the surge tank so it now holds the high pressure fuel pump, as well as the fuel pressure regulator. Also pressure tested the fuel system to 100psi with no issues.. Waiting on several black -6a...

Bit more work completed today. The Low Pressure pump and filter are now installed (just have to secure the filter properly). http://blackman-research.myvnc.com/SG/CARS/GH_TURBO_SCORP/LP_PUMP.jpg Worked out the throttle linkage, A bit of cutting and welding, along with a few other bits. Re: My new GH Turbo project..
Been a while but I've been doing some more work on the Scorp. Have decided to go E85 and a draw through EFI setup, basically a Throttle Body Injection system. The bonus is I won't have to use an inter-cooler, due to the E85 evaporative cooling the air. This setup isn't ideal, but it should still per...

Re: I DESPERATELY NEED HELP! (4g52 rebuild)
Under the inlet manifold ,the Astron 1 has a removable balance shaft cover. The GN Astron 2 does not have the removable cover. True to a point, From the GJ onwards, the silent shaft housing on the passenger side of the block DON'T have the removable cover. I hope there aren't many differences, all ...

Re: I DESPERATELY NEED HELP! (4g52 rebuild)
Aren't auto 2.0l scorpions meant to be narrow block? First and foremost, NARROW BLOCK and WIDE BLOCK only applies to the BELLHOUSING bolt pattern, and has nothing to do with the sump and timing cover. Most Astron engines have the wide sump and timing cover, irrespective of whether it's a 2.0L, 2.6L...

Re: GC Galant- Quick rebuild for Motorkhana
Saw this beast a while ago in a youtube clip (along with a few pointers about cats). Good to see it's still alive and well. The Magna engine should be fine, and will mate up with the standard Galant gearbox. The only issue will be if your original engine swap included the gearbox, as there are 2 typ...

No Idea but be careful as there are at least 2 types for the KM132 gearboxes, depending if you have the tapered roller lay shaft or the needle roller+ ball bearing lay shaft.

Re: put oil on head bolt threads?
You need to use some type lubrication on the bolts/studs because the metal on metal will "stick" and give you a higher torque reading than it really is. This is one of the worst conditions for any bolt or stud. Apart from a possibly blowing a head gasket due to too lower a torque, you cycl...

Re: Oil pressure help
5 seconds should have been enough if the engine was primed. What I would do is remove the spark plugs, disconnect the coil and wind over the motor until the oil pressure light goes out. The pressure switch is set very low, somewhere around 3-5 psi, so just cranking the engine will turn it off, as lo...

But problem is that a magna is only 8.2 Depends on the Magna. The TS is 9.2:1 to 9.4:1 (from memory) with the M8 M9 kidney shaped heads. You can shave up to 2mm off these heads safely, zero deck some flat top pistons, and you will be closer to 12:1, just don't forget to space out the hydraulic tens...

Remove the rotor button and take a clear picture of the module the wires plug into. (brand and part number would be good) a. The body of the Dizzy will supply the negative. b. That is correct. It goes to the acceleration pump then the return line to the tank. it should also allow any vapour to return to the tank rather than causing vapour lock.

The vacuum going to the carb secondary butterfly is different to the dizzy. The dizzy uses manifold vacuum where as the carb secondary butterfly should use PORTED vacuum. The basic difference between the 2 is that at low throttle position, the PORTED vacuum is at atmosphere (zero vacuum). Another th...

Re: Weird oil smoke problem.
BTW: the only time the oil can be "SUCKED" into the turbo is under vacuum. All other times there is pressure on both sides of the turbo which may push air/fuel mix or exhaust fumes into the oil. This wouldn't show as exhaust smoke, just the oil will become dirty very quickly and it could t...

Re: Weird oil smoke problem.
Best guess is the carbon seal.
Remove the pipe going to the inlet manifold.
If there is LIQUID oil pooling anywhere in the tube, it's the carbon seal.
Clean inside the pipe, take it for a run and then remove and wipe the pipe with a white cloth.
Again, if there is any oil, it's the seal.
Cheers.

A wild stab in the dark, but I'd be looking at the choke butterfly. It might be sticking closed, causing the engine to flood a bit when its warming up and under load.
Worth a look.
