So i was talking to my mum about the galant and she said when i change the carpet in it i should smear fish oil to preserve it and prevent rust as its what she use to do in her old HQ
Is this true to what you do ?

If you choose to use fish oil, use the deoderised one. Trust me..
I've used fish oil on alot of previous cars. Tectril (spl) is another option.
There is quite a few others. Lanolin comes to mind.

I can actually say this works... old guy who owned the car before me would poor fish oil into the doors to prevent rust! Even after 7 years of me owning the car there are still traces of it there toady but no rust... a bit gross when you have to work on door interiors.

Fish oil is always tacky, so if you stick carpet underlay directly to it, it will get stuck in the oil film. Which is not a problem until you want to remove the underlay.
