Re: Gsr boot lip on a GE
vr4retrofit did you just bolt on or did you modify??? dose it sit flush???
Re: Gsr boot lip on a GE
interesting those pictures
seeing that image i thought i was tripping but this morning took some photos
when one edge of the spoiler sits perfectly flush with the ideal body line as is in this image ( give or take a couple of mm )
the other end sits out about this far..
this how ever dosent say it CANT be done, just depends on how keen you are

Re: Gsr boot lip on a GE
yea ok, not so keen now..........Would it be asking too much if you could sit it evenly on both side's so i could see???
just to get an idea on how it would look??
it dose not appeal to me that much now.
I wanted to give my GE a older muscle car look!
But thank you guys for your help anyway!!!

Re: Gsr boot lip on a GE
you could find a car with a rubber/foam lip spoiler and 'modify' it to suit.
old BMW, telstar tx5 (maybe) I'm sure there are plenty of others. might even be able to get a universal?

Re: Gsr boot lip on a GE
There is a 35mm difference in the width of the boot lid's between a GE/H and GJ/K/N. so it will overhang 17.5mm either side of the car overall.

Re: Gsr boot lip on a GE
If memory serves me correctly...all wagons are based on the GE/H floorpan....so the wings will be about 35mm longer than the car itself....is that right???

yeah all wagons are based on GE.
but sorry I'm missing what that's got to do with a boot lip, wagons never had them

Re: Gsr boot lip on a GE
to a point though, where are you planning on putting the spoiler ? on the roof? on the rear bumper?, the wagon gets considerably narrower up top on the roof vs the sedans boot lid
Re: Gsr boot lip on a GE
Why not just get a Wagon Spoiler??

Re: Gsr boot lip on a GE
is there one for a normal top wagon?
Re: Gsr boot lip on a GE
not that I know of, be easier to modify than a sedan one though.

Re: Gsr boot lip on a GE
normal top wagons never had a spoiler....only the high roof model did...and it bolts into the high roof section
I may be easier modding another wing.....but this will be a 'GSR wagon'......so i'll be using GSR equipment on the car.
I want the car to be unique, made to look like it was built by Mitsubishi.....and done on a shoestring budget
I went down the exact same path when i mentioned to people about me building a Scorpion wagon (was never done, this is different/that is different, won't work)...this can be done...within a shoestring budget

Re: Gsr boot lip on a GE
well in both cases a GSR wing will need to be cut in half. plastic welded, sanded. filled and primed and painted then a mold made of the smaller wing and a fiberglas repro will have to be made, if you ever plastic welded anything before you will know it rips and isnt very strong.

Re: Gsr boot lip on a GE
well i was planning on building a replica out of steel so its all one shape, in one piece and welded to the bodywork so its all 'seamless' (i was planning on doing this to the front version as well
The other advantage in making one out of steal (instead of chopping up a GSR wing) is that once im done with it, it can be sold off..in one piece to another GSR maker/owner

Re: Gsr boot lip on a GE
Nope. I think its a waste of time. I don't like the look of the rubber spoiler on the GE/GH cause they are just so pretty without them.
I;ve always liked the look of the High Roof Sigma Wagon. A Turbo 4G43 in one would be so cool.

Re: Gsr boot lip on a GE
not a turbo fan(+ i have my aspiration already..twin carb)....i personally like the 4G54 motor, and it saves time/money/hassle in doing an engine conversion (even ifi ts a relatively simple one)
