Help! Sigma 2.6 conversion & power steering

Post by CRZYGE »

Hey guys, just wondering if any one can help me out here. I would like to replace my 2.0 from my 78 Ge Se to a 2.6. Does anyone know exactly what sigmas I can take this motor from and if it has to be a short or long motor. Also for power steering, which sigma's power steering will suite my car best? Thanks.

Short block is fine as you can use your existing head. The only thing you will need to check is whether the replacement engine is a NARROW block (an auto 2.6 will guarantee it is a narrow block).

For the Power Steering, as posted before, you will need everything.
1. COMPLETE Steering column, including indicator stalk, shroud, key and lock.
2. Pump, bracket, pipes.
3. Power steering unit.
4. Possibly the front pulley.
5. Possibly the front timing cover.

Ideally you would find a donor sigma with a 2.6 auto and power steering.

Would probably be cheaper that way as well.

Cheers.

Cheers for getting back to me mate. Much appreciated. So the power steer doesn't have to come out of a specific sigma to fit a Ge?

Superscan has pretty well covered it.
I did this just recently to my GJ. I did need the timing cover.
But overall its a relatively easy job..

cheers

NO.
All 2.6 AUTO's will but only SOME 2.6 manuals will.

Cheers.
