any turboed siggies in Syd

Post by 13bsigma »

hey guys. i'm thinking of scrapping the bridgeport idea in my GE. very much thinking of going 4G63 turbo instead. is there anyone in sydney or NSW for that matter that has a 4G63 sigma? can i have a look, maby possibly even a ride in it? lol to see wha i will be ending up with.

the 463 will be:
much cheaper to get and put in
cheaper on fuel
less attention from the blue boys
more reliable
more powerfull than a bridbeport N/A

whats involved in getting it in? it bolts in doesn't it? but the turbo hits the brake boosters or something. . i'v heard different things. can anyone help me?

i'll have $6000 grandish when i sell my turbo suzuki. and i know that will cover it. thinking of going aftermarket ecu and bigger turbo with the swap.

any info wuld be awesome guys,
Thanks

As per above^^^^^
It all depends what 4g63 you are talking about. A dohc 4g63 will have a lot of issues to overcome to make it rwd like thermostat housings, cas, water pump, throttle body relocation and of course a gearbox that won't break. A sohc is heaps easier but will not make the same amount of power in stock form. I thought you were selling a GE scorp with a sohc 63t?
Why not steal that and sell the shell still?

Oh and unless you are doing the work yourself, 6k will not cover a dohc conversion.

Hope that helps.

will the VR4 bolt up to narrow block 5 speed or wide block 5 speed?

relocating throttle body and thermostat is the same as doing magna efi setup isn't it? same sort of work??

what needs to happen to water pump?

and what is cas?? oh. cam angle sensor? that hits on the firewall or something doesn't it? i'v heard that it depends what engine you get, some hit and some dont. .

this info is gold guys. thanks very much again for your time and answers.

Ok well i was one of the first on Austarion, to start this conversion and a lot of options have opened up since i first began. I would check out there new twincam section for a start, and do some searching there.

Vr4 blocks are narrow, meaning a narrow box is needed. A b/w will explode in 2 secs and a jap 5 speed isn't far behind it.

Yes a throttle body relocation is like a magna, but the thermostat housing is completely different.

CAS will hit the firewall (like the thermostat housing)

The heater hoses run off the back of a sohc water pump, and a radiator hose off the end. Vr4 is completely different.

Your also going to need a custom exhaust manifold regardless of turbo.

I can go on all day but if you read up on there, and you will understand why i say 6k is not going to cut it.

would it be easier to use a starion block and put twin cam on that. with regards to the water pump?

mate i put a vr4 engine in my starion about 6 years ago, if i was in your shoes i would build a twin cammer from a starion block like someone suggested. I used vr4 block with jap 5 speed and kept stripping gears and bending input shafts even with starion guts inside. It cost me $2500 for front cut, couple hundred for 2nd hand box, Already had aftermarket ecu, i did all the welding and fabrication etc myself which saved thousands.
Add a grand for all new consumables like timing belt, plugs , oils etc , it wont take long to add up.

I just turboed and injected my pajero for about $1500 max cause i picked up each component for next to nothing and did all the fab work myself with help from a friend with the electrical stuff. Probably wouldve been like 8grand at a workshop with about %20 of the care put into it.

That may give u some idea i hope

yes pics please. are you guys in sydney (vr4sigma and mitchell)??

i have a mate who bought a starion with twincam in it for 8 grand a while back he keeps saying i can buy it off him. and he says 8 grand was a bit steep so he will prob sell for less. and it is a starion block with twin cam too. . and 245 RWKWs lol. after market ecu and rx7 turbo with T4 internals lol. and forged internals. . so 8 grand is awesome, anyting better is . . well much better lol. only thought of it last night. will solve all my probs lol

and the starion is registered. . so i can pull out twin am setup. put in my siggie and sell starion shell for a grand. so it'll be even cheaper. that way i can save to get a better gearbox lol.

hell i can drive the starion for a while. i quite like starions lol

I love & own both Sigma's & Starion's, but I would never destroy a rare Starion to save a Sigma. We need to save as many Starions as possible before they become extinct. Sigma's are not an endangered species, yet.
I'm here for a good time, not a long time !

hey mate im in sydney too and currently doing a vr4 4g63 conversion to my GK, really not too hard but yeah if your keen on not going over your budget i would leave the internals standard and a standard or similar sized turbo just so you can run a jap 5 speed. Still will have plenty of power, reliable, smooth and even decent fuel economy. I already done a supra 5 speed conversion after breaking a worn jap 5 speed with a SOHC 4g63 so going forgies :)
