Ebay boot seals - don't fit

Post by SIR »

Has anyone else tried one of the boot seals that you can by for the 4lancers on ebay?
Mine arrived today and it seams to be at least 12" too short and if I try to stretch it out the seal pulls off the corners.

I did have an extrusion that I bought from clarks rubber on there before that fitted but was too tall and made closing the boot difficult.

Why do you need the boot seal on a race car?

It said in the add to fit LA and LB sedan A72 model, mine is a factory LB sedan and has A72 plate in the engine bay. It was from Phils rotary guy, I got hold of him today and he said that he does have another seal for an A77 (NFI what that is) that is around 12" longer which sounds about right so he is going to switch it over.

I though the boot seal would be handy to keep the water out of the boot and away from the fuel pumps. RHR door seal is for stopping the exhaust gasses coming in.
