Camshaft - Grind or buy?

Post by mstrrab1992 »

Ive had a look and cant find what i need on here..

so is it better to grind my cam

or is it better to buy a stage 3 cam? or whatever
im not 100% sure when it comes to cams
so could someone explain it to me a little bit clearer?
theres a cam grind place up the road from me.
but i dont know what better, getting it grinded to how i want it, or buying one?

You could buy some grinding but I think that is a totally different subject (H)

stages dont mean squat..... one guys "stage"is another guys stock..... go off the actual measurements of the cam

im not 100% sure when it comes to cams
unless your an engine builder of note do what all the smart guys do.... ask the cam grinder for his advice, BUT you will need all your engine specs and a couple of other bits of info for him to be able to advise you

theres a cam grind place up the road from me.
go talk to him... he should know (who is he??)

depending on the engine you may have no choice on ground or new, talk to your grinder....

Technical Tips an Tricks topic, AFTERMARKET CAMTECH CAM SPECS - SATURN - ASTRON - EVO

As stated before, your engine specs (comp ratio, valve size, expected rev range, etc...) will determine the cam you require.

Cheers.
