Im having some issues with my sump leaking. I know you cant do it up tight cos its a stinkin cork gasket :o ... but does anyone know what the torque settings are for the sump? or if theres any strange mitsubishi lab secrets to sealing it up.

On my Saturn I used some grey stuff in a tube. Sikaflex? Just follow the instructions on the tube closely. No cork gasket, in fact no gasket at all. Check for crankcase pressure first. I have no leaks.

Yeah well this is what i too was thinking of doing. This also poses another question, anyone know what sort of pressure is in the trannie sump? I might have to hook up my boost gauge lol.

Take the oil filler cap off and block the opening with the palm of your hand. If its building up pressure, rather than just pulsing, its too much.
Edit: Oh, just realised - torqueflight - never mind

clean and dry the pan and auto, put on a NEW cork gasket that is painted on BOTH sides with Permatex no.3 sealant. that should stop it. make sure the pan face surface is flat too.

Love that stuff... get a laugh out of the 'sterile' warning on the back.

Drew, good to see your still alive mate :)
