Re: 1977 Colt Galant Wagon
A friend did say; "You should put a 4g in there"
My response: "It already has a 4g, just not a 63"
him: "whaaat?"
It has crossed my mind, but thats a long ways down the road. Converting to a 5spd among the routine maintenance is first, I really don't like the 3spd auto.

Hi Tim,
Can you source headers/extractors for the wagon locally? They are very hard to find hear as our Galants were never fitted with the Astron. Even some to suit an Arrow might fit.

As rare as these cars are here, the G52B wasn't a popular motor vs the G54B could be found in a few vehicles.

Thanks Dave!
'75 Colt front chrome big bumper
As per that second pic, should I keep the wheels silver or paint the rest white like that back one?

As much as I don't mind the white, I probably wouldn't do it myself.RaptorReed wrote:should I keep the wheels silver or paint the rest white like that back one?
I would probably be more inclined to run with the standard silver, or go slightly darker silver grey, maybe the same as you tailgate panel?
When are you getting new chrome inserts for you rear window rubber?

Re: 1977 Colt Galant Wagon
The previous owner of the wheels painted that wheel like that, so that's why I was asking. The rear windows chrome? I don't know when, the top piece on the front windshield came off during my 3k mile trip back home from the east coast. The wagon I'm slowly building as compared to the coupe.

Wagon's new home, because it has developed a leak from the fuel tank and I had a bolt on the right A arm that decided to remove itself from the car along with the bushing while I was driving... .

Re: 1977 Colt Galant Wagon
Made some progress today, Looking like it will need some GH/Starion struts and hubs to be put back together. Doubtful I'll be able to separate the Hub from the rotor, unless I chuck it across the street it might begin to separate lol.

Re: 1977 Colt Galant Wagon
Lol that actually worked to some degree lol, dropped it a couple times against the ground, crude way of doing it, but rusty old parts need some help to be removed sometimes.
I put the lug nuts back on to protect the studs from any damage before I did anything.

Re: 1977 Colt Galant Wagon
I might have to get a fuel cell and replace the fuel lines on the car, then call it a day. The ethanol in the fuel here (10%) is eating away at rusted areas on the bottom of the tank and creating new leaks for me .

Re: 1977 Colt Galant Wagon
Avoid that shit like the plague. Do you guys have an option over there? We get 10% here but we also get two "Premium" options here that are ethanol free (for now).
Naomi accidentally put E10 in the coupe back when it still had the old motor and it only took 15L to eat the internals out of one of those plastic fuel filters and stop the car dead.

Re: 1977 Colt Galant Wagon
Hooley crap Tj! I heard people say the stuff was bad news - but to dissolve a fuel filter would turn a car into a rolling barbeque plate
Re: 1977 Colt Galant Wagon
I am using a metal filter, solid lines and high pressure hose and haven't had a problem using E10. I used Liberty Premium 100ron and it is awesome

Re: 1977 Colt Galant Wagon
It's few and far between to find a station without ethanol added fuel, our octane grades very from state to state. Out here in WA, we have 87, 89, and 92, though there are few E85 pumps throughout part of the state, but not that many lol. I haven't had to worry about it eating through the paper filter as much as I have had the ethanol free up the rust in the tank and send it into the filter clogging it so I backfire like a MF.
I'll have to redo the fuel system on this car at this point, maybe consider other applications to suit the wagon. However at this point I need to get new strut inserts, or better yet some Flatty Starion struts and hubs for the car. The Left front has more or less "blown", I'd say depleted, because I wouldn't doubt they were the original struts. Water pump has to be changed out too, it's not doing it's job currently lol.

Re: 1977 Colt Galant Wagon
So 5spd swapping...What's the wheelbase of the wagons? Looking at my options of using a L200 driveshaft/propeller shaft for my wagon, I don't believe the stock shaft will work because the car is a auto by default and I've heard those transmissions are longer than the manuals (at least the KM110 4spd)?

Re: 1977 Colt Galant Wagon
Well the car officially has no fuel source lol! It went from it can sit and wait with the slow drip leaky tank to I need to pull it off asap!
I think I'm going to invest in another HH GVR4 tank this time for the wagon.
Yes that is sealant, specifically Aircraft Fuel Cell Sealant and a piece of sheet metal from work to temporary fix it, which it did until the other side started leaking.
top of tank
Underbody for the most part is pretty clean and in decent shape! Never even knew about the fuel sending unit access panel in the trunk floor! Plus it still looks new! lol.

Look at your rear springs, is that a total of 5 leaves?
Anyone know what our wagons have?

Got to agree with Dave, last I saw on here when I did some searching, all wagons have 5 leafs, hardtop/Coupes vary, because I only have 2 on my Coupe.
