Knox auto carpets?
Knox auto carpets?
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has brought carpet from knox auto carpets for a GD or similar? i brought some for my GD, and it looks good, but i'm having trouble fitting it. its over sized so has to be cut down a fair bit, is a bit short going up the fire wall under the pedals and there are no holes for handbrake etc, so you have to cur your own. anyone else had similar problems?
Cheers,
Dave

That's the way all of them come.79_lancer wrote:its over sized so has to be cut down a fair bit, is a bit short going up the fire wall under the pedals and there are no holes for handbrake etc, so you have to cur your own.
Yes you have to trim them to size, and add the holes as required.

I bought from these guys....yes...they were oversived and and had no holes either.....they just do it for simplicity in there production........they don't need a seperate mould for man/auto...old or new
You just need to cut the holes that YOU SPECIFICALLY need for YOUR SPECIFIC application

ah ok cheers. its just that ive looked at some of the old carpet bits and they are completely different. i'm just trying to work out how to pin the new carpet under the door scuff plates. i think lancers have little hook things along the carpet edge to clip over the lip where the pinch rubber goes in the door frame. i guess i'll just tinker with it until i'm happy with how it fits lol.
Cheers,
Dave

Re: Knox auto carpets?
from memory the sigma used plastic clips that pinned the carpet in place...then the scuff plate went over the top

Haven't fitted them yet but heard from others they look great. Look good in the box anyway.

I'm pretty sure it was plush pile, kinda in between loop and shag. Looks good. I think it was around the $200 mark but I also got the under felt. This is for my galant tho, not the lancer, just incase u wanted to know.
www.knoxautocarpets.com.au/ is the website. I think they do lancer carpet too but not sure if they have the shag type.
Cheers, Dave

Re: Knox auto carpets?
6 months ago I bought a Plush Pile from them. I asked for LIGHT blue and they sent me DARK blue! When I complained I had a pretty rude response. They did send the right carpet after the complaint but still it wasn't the best fit. And no matter the amount of steaming and stretching it doesn't fit right. I won't be using them again!

Re: Knox auto carpets?
I bought carpets for my 75 LA 2-door in January -- black loop pile. They look good, but they are way oversize and don't fit well without a LOT of work. Took me a day and a half to fit them!
Original Lancer carpets never went underneath the sill plates, and the Knox ones do, unless you cut them back, in which case you wouldn't have a finished edge. Also the front and rear sections of the Knox carpets overlap on the 'cross-member' to which the front seats attach, whereas the original carpets don't -- this meant I had to cut out a portion of the overlapped carpets to line up the seat mounting holes. I also took out the shifter and handbrake initially to make sure I got the best fit.
The end result is pretty good though, but I wouldn't want to go through that again!!! Still, better than NO carpets!
Cheers
Mick
