My '79 GE Scorpion
Hey Guys,
Ive been a member on here for a little while and have posted a couple of threads before but never a build thread of the old girl.
A little back ground on her, my grandfather bought her when she was a couple of years old and thought she was the best thing since sliced bread. Now he passed before I was born and my grandmother kept the car for when we came to visit (I live in Perth and she was in Victoria). Time passed and my grandmother passed away and dad wanted the car so he inherited it and shipped it over to Perth. She served as our spare car with dad and I talking about popping a turbo motor into her a few times but nothing ever serious, until one day, when I was looking through gumtree and stumbled across an imported sigma turbo import. Anyway one thing lead to another and I bought home the turbo as a donor for the scorpion and that's pretty much how it all started. Im not a mechanic, just a car enthusiast and this sort of thing comes natural to me but I am in no way a professional. Having owned a turbo charged car of some shape my entire driving life I had a fair idea of what was involved in the swap.
Anyways enough dribble this is what you all want to see, pictures!

Well, that is some transformation you've put the Scorpion through. It is looking super tidy! This will give it more than enough muscle to get it's carcass moving. Any plans for the suspension set up? The Scorpions' handling and stopping isn't exactly stellar out of the box.

She made 182rwhp only held back due to the standard injectors, more fuel more power! Trying to work out which intake manifold will bolt to the 4g63b with minimal modification and multipoint injection.
As for suspension, not a lot planned not sure what options I have to choose from, so far just have all the nolathane bushes I could get.
The brakes I have bought slotted rotors and will get some better pads for it. I recently pick myself up a R31 diff which I plan on having fitted and smashing an LSD into.

I did buy a later model sigma borg warner diff and I took it to a local diff shop but they said they weren't able to source a LSD centre for it so I sold it off. I did a bit of research and I figured the R31 diff was the best option as I can get away with the extra width (60mm overall) which would save me on having the case shortened and new shafts made. I will also try to keep the skyline brake setup on the rear just because it would be easier, only think I need to do is sort out the handbrake and the brake lines.

It is a shame about the Sigma. That model ACTUALLY IS the only thing that is rarer than rocking horse shit.

i know, it was fun to drive, had the IRS rear and all but the body was just too far gone and would never have been able to pass the pits again unless it had a full restore.

lovely scorp you got there.
