Re: idle problem
The inlet manifold gasket is the one between the head and the manifold. there is a water passage that is offset by about 5mm at the front of it.

i see leaking water from the manifold to motor and the water outlets from the cabs; that this consider as vaccum leak? :$ Check that your inlet manifold gasket is not upside down. I had a so called mechanic do this to my galant and he tried to tell me that my head had a split water jacket. Standard...

Re: Q about rally inspections
The car will have to have a CAMS log book that has the engine# and Chassis # recorded in it.the log book also has a pic of the car in it and the scrutineers check the numbers to validate the cars identity, we are having enough dramas with rally rego as it is,so don't be a tight arse and screw it for...

If you want it to last DO NOT put 2pack clear over acrylic. Acrylic softens in hot waether and moves, whereas 2pack doesn't,so after a while.you will end up with cracks every where. also,1.4mm is way too small a setup for acrylic. Use a 2mm. This advice is from a praypainter with over 30 years experi...

Re: new project. Kirk's GC galant
I agree with Dave about mixing clear with colour. With acrylic,I normally apply 3 coats of colour, then lightly sand with P800 Wet and dry, then spray 3 or 4 more coats. As for thinning,I generally thin 50% so the paint flows a bit better. I might write an article about acrylic paint jobs in the near ...

There was a cam that we played with that was a #5+2. It was a bit wilder than the #5 and this is the one the Gosford Dyno Lancers were running till Hilly and Belly went to BDA Escorts.

30 years ago the Gosford Dyno Tune Lancer rally cars were putting down between 118 and 120 HP ATW. These were 4G32s with C2 (narrow ringed) pistons,#5 cam,Twin 45mm Webers and some head work. This particular Dyno had a reputation as one of the most accurate Dynos in the country. The factory power ra...

i like the fact that I will be able to re create the car that I had 30 years ago,the only difference is that I will be doing the work on it. I can't wait to feel the adrenalin rush as it is thrown into a corner at 7000+rpm on the dirt. ![grin :D](./images/smilies/msn_grin.gif)

To polish the lenses, use some buffing compound and a nice soft, clean rag. Rub the crap out of them, wash them and repolish with Brasso. Works a treat. Just a quicky as to the strength of an RX7 box. One of the young guys that I worked with had a series 4 RX7 that was putting 375hp to the ground (mild port 13B,Hi flow T04,Haltech,etc.) Never broke a box.
