Re: 2.6 head clarification

Now I'm even more confused. So can anyone absolutely tell me what year, what model car will have the kidney shaped combustion chamber?

Re: Race spec 4g54 Mods

Cheater: I'm very impressed with your setup. Did you modify that flywheel or is that a purchased part? I have an 11 pound factory flywheel but it looks nothing like that. I've been having a lot of problems spinning #2 rod bearing. I hope I've resolved that with a new oil pump, and pure synthetic oil...

Re: 2.6 head clarification

many thanks. I'm not worried about detonation. we need to get some compression out of this 2.6. with what is available in the USA, I'm maxed out at 9.4:1. I need to be 12:1 or more. We have sufficent fuel octane that detonation wouldn't be a problem but I'll be sure to soften any sharp edges. I'd pr...

Re: 2.6 head clarification

Thanks for that.

anyone else? I'm having a hard time figuring this out. Before I order a cylinder head 10,000 miles away, I want to be sure I get the right one.

2.6 head clarification

forgive me for being a newbie. I'm trying to figure out the exact years, model cars that have the small combustion chamber cylinder. I believe it's casting ID M8 oris it M9 or is it both? I'm understanding it comes on the Astron 2 engine but what vehicle does that come in? being from in a country th...

Re: spun rod bearing engine #4

well, just put in engine #5 and it didn't even make 20 seconds. as soon as it started, the oil pressure spiked over 150psi and blew the oil filter apart before I could even shut off the engine. Brand new pump. I'm about ready to junk the 2.6 and make a 2.2 Chrysler engine work in this car. :banh:

Re: spun rod bearing engine #4

I think #2 is failing because it's the closest to the filter and if foamy oil (aerated) the air is hitting #2 with the most foam. This is pure speculation but my theory has some logic. I'll see how this weekend goes with an oil restrictor to the head, synthetic oil and a lighter weight. I really app...

Re: spun rod bearing engine #4

there is a definite appearance of oil starvation on the bearings. #2 is the worst and obviously seized to the crank and spun. I never did like the oil pump on this engine. When I look at the engineering the pump is spinning faster than the crank. I'm going to have to see about the forklift pump/chai...

Re: spun rod bearing engine #4

.0015" rods
.0025" mains

and 3 cranks are bent

3 are spun #2
1is spun #3

IDK what a 10mm vs 12mm on the oil pump.

spun rod bearing engine #4

so far this racing season, I've had 4 engines fail. all have spun rod bearings (#2 or #3). all specs were perfect on build. 2 different people built the engines. all but one had balance shafts removed. all had 80psi oil pressure @ 7000rpm. all engines balanced except one with balance shafts. all had...

Re: N/A compression

very cool. I was playing around and found some chevy cam bushings. the center hole of the bushing is close to the cam pin. I drilled out the cam sprocket to fit the bushing. When I degree'd my cam I ran it 2° adv. I sent out one of my non-jet valve heads today. I'll have it back on Wed. We're going ...

Re: N/A compression

you have been quite helpful. I've built and raced a lot of Ford 2300's and Chrysler 2.2. I had a 2.2 chrysler Non-turbo that generated 325hp @6800. 14:1 c.r. 44mm side draft carbs, dry sump, etc. The 2.6 came in a turn key race car (dodge challenger/plymouth sapporo) I acquired through some trading....

Re: N/A compression

I didn't think I could mill that much off these heads. I'll definitely take a look at that.

Any suggestions were to get a kidney head (m8/m9)?

I'm jealous of the cars and performance parts available to you...

Re: N/A compression

I have wiseco flat top pistons. my cost was $400 (USD) with rings. I'm using a Weber DGAS 38/38 carb. cam is .547" lift roller follower, 108Lobe center, 248° @ .050". I would really like to be 12:1. right now the best I can get is 9.4:1 and I'm way down on power compared to the Ford 2300's...

N/A compression

I'm building a oval racer and need more information for a cylinder head to make more compression. I'm not sure if I need an M8 or M9. What's an M28? What is the mitsubishi part number? what application does the small combustion chamber head come on? Does anyone have cc numbers for the the 4g54 heads...
