just wondering if these are hard to change and whether there are any special steps involved?

hey guys....just wondering if anyone has experienced this and what is likely the problem....when i get close to full lock i hear a knock/thud/horrible noise coming from the front left...so im wondering if you might think its just a rack end or something other than that??
