I don't think we had 2.6 turbos for Starions in NZ. Just 2 litre. Heres the link to Pauls car;

Sounds dear to me. A mate is selling one of those with an 8 valve 4g63 from a Starion for $8000nz. Check Trademe.

I talked to these guys but they need a bulkhead to tke a mould from and I am at the other end of the country. Their work does sound good though.dwlee wrote:Give these guys a go http://www.dashboardrestorations.co.nz/ . They are supposed to be pretty good, but I have not used them personally.

The steering wheel is from a GTO. The standard wheel is the same as alot of yours. Looks like in going to be busy with photos next weekend although I do have a big tree to cut down and completely cut and split for firewood.

Pictures probably next weekend. I have new/old door cards coming this week too. Would be good to show an update with these, the repaired guard and rechromed bumper corners. Dreams are free............

Re: Mrelshauno's 1850 (GD) Coupe begins (Pic Heavy)
Still none of the above parts but today I have worked on making the best dash cluster that I can out of all my various spares. I think at this stage I will be sticking with the fake woodgrain as the best one I have looks near new and alot darker than others I have. The GTO seats are now fitted but w...

Re: 76 Colt Galant GTO GSR 2000
I know it's all personal preference, but I wouldn't worry too much about an original battery clamp.
In my build I am keen to try and keep the battery under the bonnet as thats where they belong. Even if it means using a small sealed unit similar to what helicopters use.

Dash pad cure?
Looking at fixing mine. It isn't bad but not really a fixable thing supposedly. I saw a Mini advertised on TM last night with a leather dash pad. I'm thinking of talking to the upholserer about covering mine. I think it could look quite good and I was looking at redoing the seats in leather anyway. ...

Nearly a month on and the LF Guard isn't back yet. Saw him this time last week and I was going to have it on Thursday, grrrrrr! Has neededalot more work though. I have been trying to get hold of the guy rechroming my bumper ends but he seems too busy to answer the phone. On a positive note, my new d...

Wow! Over 1000 views now. Thats pretty cool. I wish there was more news to share. I guess I can share that I got a bit anal on the rear bumper corners. 1 had a pinhole of rust and the other had a small scrape so I got one of my spares with a snapped rusty bolt in it. Removed the offending bolt remna...

Re: Mrelshauno's 1850 (GD) Coupe begins (Pic Heavy)
No pictures this update. Shame, I needed to do before and after of my front guard. I was going to get it tidied up by the panel beater but first it had to get media blasted to get the old bog out. This revealed an ugly as repair on the front. The panelbeater is a craftsman and has cut the front out ...

Hey Jono, I used to have two VG Valiants as well (no photos unfortunately). Great car. One was white and the other gold. Did you know thw first 'Charger' was actually tested using the Charger running gear in a VG Valiant Utility? My old man has the photos of Doug Chivas taking around the test track...

I'm at a similar position with mine. I was going to buy the tacho that you got but freight was cheaper from Asia than Aussie. The colours of wires to the coil were different on mine than pictured in that link but it was very useful. Just cobbling together one good dash out of the 5 or so I have befo...

Re: Mrelshauno's 1850 (GD) Coupe begins (Pic Heavy)
I managed to pick up a set of GTO seats today. I only had room to bring the rears home from work today but after 8 years on a farm with a broken windshield they have cleaned up ok although it looks like only the base of the rears will fit. That's no problem as I was primarily after the front. The fr...

There's been a couple down near me in recent times. An old MK1 Mini and a Toyota RAV4 (about 1996). Both go very well. There was a story on 3News a couple of months ago and I think it was in the ODT Newspaper as well.

What have people done to upgrade the sway bar on a GD? I have had a measure up and factory is 20mm. I saw somewhere here that someone put a 27mm on a Sigma I think.

Re: Thoughts on this diff?
Should be all good. Same exact diff as GH Scorpion except they use vented Starion rotors and were available in limited slip. Centres are the same as JA Starion and gear sets are interchangeable with Scorpion 10 bolt so you can change ratio pretty simply. Stock they are 3.89:1 same as the stock Gala...
