Nothing better than a bit of "hands on" work.
And don't worry about making mistakes, an expert is just someone who has made a lot more mistakes in that job.
Keep it up.

The canister is vacuum advance / boost retard.
It should be plugged in on the engine side of the throttle body.

Re: starion dizzy help
Remove the cap and rotor button, most likely it's inside. Also, how thick are each of the wires? Is 1 a lot thinner than the rest?
Most likely there are 2 thick ones (like the sigma) and 1 thin one for the Starion ECU to measure RPM.
I'll see if I can find anything online..

Re: starion dizzy help
Can you put up a pic of the internals and the plug for the dizzy. Usually there are only 2 wires coming from the dizzy, +(from ignition) and Switched +(to the Coil). Both are heavy duty. Earth is usually via the block. That is if the ignition module is on the dizzy. GE's and GH's have an external ig...

why not try to incorporate methanol into the mixture bit of extra kick for fun every now and then Just using the water to help suppress detonation. Re: My new GH Turbo project..
Do you have to shorten the intake runners to clear the bonnet in a starion ? Didn't need to as it just misses the bonnet in the Scorpion. And what computer are you going to use ? I have 4 to choose from but most likely will just use the MicroSquirt with the Dynatek Arc-2 CDI Box and EDIS. Should wo...

Re: GH sedan vs wagon diff
ALL wagons use the same diff mounting points as the GE/GH Sigma or Scorpion. The 4 main differences: 1. Shock absorber mount, which it is minor. 2. BW to Jap, the tailshaft flange is different 3. 8-bolt Jap to 10-bolt Jap flange also (GE to GH). 4. Handbrake cable is different between BW ad Jap. Che...

Re: My new GH Turbo project..
While the shaft regrind went well, the carbon seal isn't sealing as it should. Have purchased a Ceramic Ball Bearing kit to retrofit into the Rajay turbo but it will require a bit of fitness to make it work. The carbon seal wasn't sealing on the Rajay turbo, most likely because the spacer I made was...

Re: My 4G32 rally engine project
Yep, thanks, I'm aware of the difference in radii. I want to quantify what that means in terms of change in motion paths - so it'll be out with the dial indicator and degree wheel over the holidays. Sounds great. Nothing like doing the hard work to get the correct information. All part of the learn...

Re: My 4G32 rally engine project
The contact path for roller followers is vastly different to slippers. The curve on the slipper is much larger than the roller, therefore on the same cam, Roller followers will open the valves slower and close the valves quicker than a slipper rocker. This will lose you a lot of the gains the No:5 c...

Re: My new GH Turbo project..
Could you explain why not just buy another turbo? Is it easier and cheaper to repair your current one. Or is the one you got a very good one and worth fixing? The Rajay turbo is nicely suited to the Astron so I'd rather keep it up and running if possible. To replace the turbo would indeed cost a lo...

Re: My new GH Turbo project..
Well the turbo shat it self, so I am getting the shaft re-ground and then will have to make a new bearing for it. There are limited replacement parts for these turbo's so I am going to have to make my own bearings for it. At the moment, I'll replace the aluminium bearing with aluminium-bronze bushin...

Re: Automatic to manual conversion
GE sigma have either a BW diff or Jap 8 bolt. Either way, the flange is different to the later 10 bolt Jap diffs in the GH onward Scorps, along with a different bolt size. While I would normally point you to Shaun (Scorpion Collector), his recent passing has been a sever blow to all of us in the Sig...

Re: Automatic to manual conversion
Just had a bit more of a think on this and the tailshaft will be an issue either way.
Best scenario is that you are going to be using a Jap 5-speed gearbox, because the correct tailshaft will be easy to locate.
BW box to Jap diff isn't standard but Jap box to Jap diff is.
Cheers.

Re: Automatic to manual conversion
Engine/gearbox from GJ to GN is a good match and should be a straight bolt in. Possible issue are: 1. Speedo cable. 2. Reverse light switch. 3. Pedal box. 4. IF you are using a BW gearbox, you will also have an issue with the tailshaft. For the pedal box/speedo cable, a trip to the wreckers for a GJ...

lso, a question for y'all: I took the sump off and measured it, and its 260mm wide. Does this mean its a narrow block? If so, does that mean the engine's been replaced? I thought that GN sigmas with 5spd's were all wide block. :p Ran into the same problem with my GN wagon. The BELLHOUSING BOLT PATT...
