planning to use a bosch 044 pump as the main pump
as the sigma is a carby the fuel tank isn't set up properly for efi (no sump/baffles/pump pod) so I was planning to put in a surge tank and an external lift pump.
my question is what is a good external lift pump capable of keeping up with the 044 and the ecotec? holley red?
most pumps I've found are intank
the efi'd scorpio just runs a lift and a hi pressure pump no surge etc. (it very occasionally get surge when the tank is near empty and doing a motorkhana) However the total cc for the injectors is less then half of the ecotec.
cheers

Re: External lift fuel pump - ecotec conversion
I just run an 044 with no lift pump though my tank has been modified with the addition of a sump, also I have a one way check valve of the outlet side of the pump which keeps the pump primed

yeah I have seen your tank mods if I was using a sedan I would follow similar path, but the wagon tank design (cause of the spare wheel) I though a surge would be easier.
good to know the single pump works fine without a surge though

Re: External lift fuel pump - ecotec conversion
got it sorted now - I think
Tank> Holley red (269LPH@4psi)>Surge tank>bosch 044 (290LPH@30psi)>ecotec

after looking at the below post:

I've been think i maybe better off putting a long narrow sump on the filler side with some baffles.
what do you guys think, or does anyone know if there is a fuel tank that fits unders the sigma wagons that keep the provision for the spare wheel carrier?

Re: External lift fuel pump - ecotec conversion
What problems are you having ?
I went with the sump as I don't like having fuel system components inside the car and there was no room to fit a decent sized surge tank under the car

Room underneath is an issue, being a wagon no good in the boot/cabin and I like the idea of keeping the system simple 1 pump etc. Probably going to be similar ballpark cost (clean tank & sump vs. Second pump, surge and fittings)
