What do you use?

Post by 75glnt »

Hey guys!

Just a quick question, what rust converter do we use?? And how do you use it?? Eg, wire wheel then apply the converter? Vs Just apply the converter?

Depends on the stuff. But as a general rule of thumb, remove any loose rust with a wire brush/wire wheel and then apply the rust converter. The best product I have personally used for controlling rust is 'Penetrol'. It comes in a pressure pack and soaks into the affected area, driving out the air inside the rust and seals it once it dries. It then prevents moisture from re-entering the rust and causing it to reactivate. It looks a bit like a clear lacquer when its dry.

Just read the instructions on the one you are using.

The general rule is remove rust scale first, then just follow the instructions...

Definitely try to remove as much as you can first by wire brush/wheel. See my build thread for what I did on my bumpers;
