dad had a supercharged 2.6 in a farm buggy he had, i think it involved an SC14 from an 80s mr2 on an adaptor to the standard manifold with a falcon weber sitting on top. something like that :) i learnt to drive in it lol

 haha bloody mad isn't it...

Not sure when it was done, unfortunately, only have a scan of the article (from Hot4's), but would love to get my hands on the origonal copy!

Wouldn't guess it... but it produces over 300hp apparently, running at 12psi  ...so tempting... turbo does make more power.... but look at it! 8-)

no shittt haha
cant be intercooler coz airfilter visable, too big to be diff or oil cooler haha
i reckon its an extra core for his radiator personally, maybe welded together of just the core extended...

An alternate/cheap route to achieving that setup...
Sigma Turbo crossover inlet manifold
charger mounted above the exhaust headers (should be enough room.. just)
Then a nice phat weber hangin off the back, or for the ultimate wankfactor - hangin through the bonnet with bright red butterfly valves on the ram tubes.

Ignoring the wankfactor part .. would that be possible while keeping stock fuel pump/dizzy etc?
Considering its boosting directly in the head and no need to pressurize carby's and float bowls..
And Siggy turbos have the boost retarded dizzy's but if you dont rev it to 8k it should be fine, right?

Main thing I'm curious about is how would you control the boost pressure? Can't vent the fuel/air mixture in the crossover pipe and I've never heard of internal wastegates on roots blowers.
What about a wastegate on the crossover that vents back into the fuel tank?

Oh so many questions.. well enjoy

boost is controlled by the diameter of the driven pulley on the supercharger, so you need to get the calculator out before you set up the drive

Yea, its just the size of the pulleys that dictate how fast it spins and how much boost you get. Super easy and people have been doing it for many years.

I understand the pulley changes the boost pressure, but roots blowers are positive displacement (no backpressure to slow them down) and higher rpm + closing the throttle would still cause a sudden pressure rise wouldn't it?

..And now I realise that only affects blow through as the butterflies are on the wrong side of the charger

Where can I get a crossover pipe 8-) .. the rest will be on ebay eventually

And I know the perfect insurer for you new supercharged 2litre sigma, lol -

RACV -

as they still insist even after being sent documentation from Mitsubishi Japan, that in 1984 the jap gsr 2 litre was supercharged and not turbo'd.

Jump into their online insurance quote thing and check it out, lols, I've almost gone grey arguing with them about this moot point.

And it seems my Tafe teacher made that camshaft for him

I think before me he said they've only ever supplied cams to 2 or 3 other sigmas ever, and each time Dean was the one who made them, his father Ian (who is Ivan in that article  ) didn't actually make any astron cams.

Ok so he is Ivan.. my bad :?

But yeah, his son Dean teaches over half my classes at tafe here, travels down from Wacol (where the Cams business is) almost everyday.
When I got him to make me a cam was when he said they've only ever made a few sigma ones, no more than a couple in the past 10 years

Can I have a supercharger now?

[Edit]: and just this past week Dean has started teaching us how to make a crankshaft on a lathe :geek:.. don't think I'll be using it in an engine anytime soon though, 4cyl crankshaft with no counterweights smaller than that used in a typical motorbike.

does the tafe have a cam profiling machine ?
if so what brand and when did thay get it?
does the tafe have the gear to finish that cam
or does it need to go tighe cams to be ground
and hardened
sorry for all the questions but i was unawhere that
the tafe have this gear .
cheers stealth 8-)

No we don't have the gear, I got Dean to make me the cam in Wacol where he has the machinery..

At tafe we only have basic things, hence making crankshafts on a lathe 8-)

The equipment level on the page means SUPer charged IMPorted

Make Model Body Series Equipment Engine Type
Level Capacity
MITSUBISHI GALANT SEDAN SUPIMP 2.0 P

If you can convince them otherwise, I'ld very happily insure with them, as I'ld bundle it with roadside assist as well
