Hey guys i have been searching for awhile now i no this might be stupid
but i was given a crashed mirage with a 4g63t in it i believe its a TME model one
my question is basically
what exactly is the difference between the evo 6 motor and the evo 1-3 motor
evo 6 motor??
Re: evo 6 motor??
Primarily the intake manifold and exhaust manifold have swapped sides.
There's minor differences in the block as far as i know and i believe the head is reasonably different too. that's about all I know, http://www.projectzerog.com might have a bit more info specifically on the differences if you trawl their forums.
If you're planning on a RWD conversion the evo 1-3 are the way to go. Much easier in the transmission dept for a start, plus you can snake all sorts of RWD parts like water pumps and engine mounts etc from things like Starions, Express vans, L200 utes and a few others.
For RWD the later evos just need too much modification to fit for virtually zero gain over the earlier ones. Plus they're cheaper
*EDIT* wait... if its in a mirage, theres a good chance its an earlier motor, stand at the front of the engine facing the end with the timing belt cover) and see what side of the motor the manifold is on. It should be on your right, if it is, you've got an early '63

Re: evo 6 motor??
Also, evo 4-9 don't have the block mount points for rwd mounts, whereas vr4/evo 1-3 do. Or so I've read.
