Help ID this Galant
Help ID this Galant
Hi there,
Just a quick one, trying to find out specific model of the following vehicle,
Clearly by file name it is a Galant Sigma, not too sure on exact model, possibly SL ? Were these released in Australia? Would anyone have any specific details of this model? Not the specific picture, just the model itself.
Thanks!

Re: Help ID this Galant
Hi 20B, sounds like you have some plans for an old GE?
Re: Help ID this Galant
By the sounds of it, I'd say a triple rotor

Re: Help ID this Galant
yep, but all in the air at the moment. just sent off an email to an engineer for a mod plate but as I said, its over the 1100kg weight which is critical for a 20b turbo. I will wait for him to reply to confirm its okay and what else needs to be done. Not too sure how the engine will fit either so I would need to find one and measure up the engine bay.
this is on the way over from japan,

Re: Help ID this Galant
the Tare weight will vary depending on what vehicle you get.
GE's (& GH for that matter) can also be 1050KG.

Old school Mitsu's, its not a hobby; it's a life style.
Re: Help ID this Galant
pretty sure a base 1600 manual GE with no options will come in at less than a tonne? 970kg or something like that?
You'll likely be looking for an SE if it needs to be 1150+.

Yes I know, I will wait to hear back from the engineer before I decide any further but of interest from the light vehicle modification regulations,
and table 3 for the weight,

Re: Help ID this Galant
A GE wagon in SE trim is around 1145kg
Re: Help ID this Galant
you wont get a Mk2 Escort registered with a supercharged 454 you'd be lucky to get it registered with a supercharged 2.4 . I know in years past things were done but its not now doable and things are getting harder. Also you should know cars you see with plates and stickers are not necesarily registered , Street Machine regulary shows full show cars with plates and stickers that cannot be registered. Dont believe everything you see.7thsin wrote:i have seen ridicules builds certified 4 RWC, example was this ford mrk2 escort with a blown 454 in it

Re: Help ID this Galant
I do know of a Mk2 Ford Escort that has a 351 in it and is rego'd in NSW, but it was engineered over 20 years ago.

20 years ago yep, now no, if the rego expires these cars in NSW are being told to get a current Engineers Cert , which they wont. Also old LHD (converted to RHD) cars now require an Engineers, even if they have been registered in Australia before.

Re: Help ID this Galant
Engineer gave me the green light.
So now I wait for a straight GE SigmaIt only needs the dual braking circuit , seat belts , heater/demister, collapsable steering colum and mirrors.
Re: Help ID this Galant
err... not even a brake upgrade? what capacity is the 20B classified as up ?

Re: Help ID this Galant
Ah crap and here I was hoping that I would have the only 20B 3 rotor Sigma in the world... I've been planning to fit a 20B to my GE Sigma since I had my first GE as my first ever car, but now with a wife and kids and saving up for a house, the project is moving very slowly. Please keep us posted of your progress, if possible please also send me some photos and info on the build so I can post them on my blog dedicated to Galants and Sigmas.
