So I am working on an 1982 Scorpion for my son and have come to the stage of nearly ready to paint. Took the paint code (WJ -polar white) into the local and got 4 litres of acrylic (Protec). Have done some initial edges etc and found the colour to appear a little different to what is on the car - looks almost a greenish-cream instead of more white-white. See contrast on front corner of guard and bonnet.
Thought someone might have a polar white car and know if this is what the colour should look like? (Car has been repainted previously)
My Wagon is Polar white. A couple of times I have bought spray cans in Polar white and they are slightly different to the colour of the wagon..and each can is different to the other can.
I've noticed that, despite being the same code (and even blend/mix), different paint brands will have a different variation of the same colour......Also, the way the paint is sprayed and dried will change the final result
Have decided to go with the paint I have. Although a little different to what is on this car and also a spare parts car (also Polar white and different again), the colour isn't bad.
I sanded some of the new paint back with 1200 wet and dry and the colour looked a little more whiter rather than cream.
Besides, the wife says she likes it rather than a stark white-white and reckons it has character, and also besides the whole car will be the same colour - so what is the problem? Guess it all makes sense....
