Troy from Flinders View QLD. I have a '80 LC currently TAN in colour. (I hate the Tan). I had an beautiful orange LC many a year ago but we unfortunately were torn apart from each other.
It's an early project, she's mechanically pretty good just a few minor issues, a little rust in the left rear guard which is getting cut out soon and then onto the respray. She is in stock condition apart from the CD player i mounted in the glove box.
I'll post some photo's before's/after's as I go.
Anyone got any good colour suggestions. I was thinking white or yellow with black pin striping.

Hemi Orange to replicate your old Orange LC?
Check out 75Wagons LC, his is Orange with Black top...
to get an idea if you like the look
But white looks good too...

Ok, should add mine! I've had the LA for 15 years, used as a 'chase car' for photographing rally cars. Lost count of how many times the odo has gone around to zero again!
Has a 2.6, twin 45 webers, mild cam, Sigma 5spd, lsd, Starion front / Scorpion rear brakes, Konis / Kings, other stuff!
Was set up for a purpose, has taken a beating, and always reliable! Not looking quite as 'mint' as when I bought it from the little old lady (complete with massive Smiths air con unit!), but still reasonably neat.

Rob here currently living in the state of Kentucky, USA. I am purchasing a '78 LB Coupe (Dodge Colt) from a friend in North Carolina. The car is the Red & White Special with a 4G32B and a 5 speed. I will be picking it up next month. I also have an '81 Scorpion (Dodge Challenger) tube frame drag car running a Chrysler 225 Slant 6 on methanol. I posted a couple pics in the Scorpion section.
Plans for the LB are a good going through and clean up as it hasn't been driven much in awhile. I'll be looking to upgrade things as time goes by. Things like brakes, struts and perhaps an engine swap. Although the fuel mileage of the 4G32B and 5 speed may cause me to keep that part as is. I suppose I'll just have to find another one to "hot rod"!
Searching through here I have seen many pics of the LA cars and it appears that the hood, grille, front bumper and lower front valance from an LA could easily be swapped onto my LB car. I like the look of the LA quite a bit more, so I may be looking for those bits in the future as well.
I'm spending many hours reading through the various posts. I've read every one on ClassicColt.com and needed more, so I signed up here. Looking forward to learning more and getting to know some of you. I've been in the Army for 27 1/2 years, so I haven't lived in one place for very long. Hopefully in the next few years I will retire and settle down so I can accumulate more cars.. (Just don't tell my wife!)

I really like some of the wilder paint schemes that the States were offered.
I also like this (but it is a Galant/ Dodge Colt)
We never got vinyl roofs or anything like that here in Oz. I have often thought of adding one to my wagon (just to be different).

Hi my name is David and I live in Brissy. In my early youthful years I had had 11 Lancers all up (all LA and mostly Rally cars). After a 20 year gap of driving mostly crap cars with plastic bumpers, I have decided to launch back into the to 70's again. I now have 3 x LB 78 4 door Lancers. One Rally car (1600) and about to CMAS logbooked and road registered, another one I am doing up as a daily driver (2.6) for my young lad and another complete car as donor (1600 chain driven) also a swag of doors, panels and parts.
Its great to read all the posts from you guns and feel the enthusiasm in making sure these cracking bits of motoring history stay on the road. You guys put me to shame with the knowledge you all have. Whilst I am not a mechanic, I have build and re-built the odd rally car over the years under my brother guidance. He is still very active on the world curcuit and is helping me as best he can from interstate. But it difficult at time and I am trying to build up a workshop and tools etc. I am getting there and the bride and all kids love it. The rally car is a hoot and it screams its head off. It can be driven very tamely but will get angry when you want it to be. We all love getting sideways when we can and hope to engage in a few club events in 2013 and perhaps a gravel rally.
As soon as I can work out the IT technology issues, I'll post some pics of my cars.

You guys put me to shame with the knowledge you all have. Whilst I am not a mechanic, I have build and re-built the odd rally car over the years under my brother guidance. Ross at 59 y.o. with a 1980 Lancer that I have had from new. It is sitting in primer at the moment as I was planning a respray to deal with faded yellow paint but several events including 8 collapsed coronary arteries and cancelled holidays has delayed progress on this and 3 other car projects over the last three years.

Lee in Adelaide LA4door 1974.My wife bought it in 1984 and gave it to me in the late 90s and ive played with it ever since.Has a lot of extras but looks mostly standard.The advantage in SA is no yearly rego check.

I did an intro somewhere else a while back but I really like the Lancer headcount idea. I have a white 77 LB 4door 1.6L, A 2door LA shell nobody wants & a driveway full of a LB hatch in bits being parted out currently.
I live near Nth Syd & have loved Lancers since I was a kid... my Mum was the proud owner & driver of a blue 74 LA 4Door. She bought it brand new & drove it for over 15yrs, she used to have all the newpaper cut-outs of all the Lancer victories in kenya & here in Aus, she even had the origional sales broshures from when she ordered it. They went with the car, I was 9 then but still kick myself for letting it go for near nothing!
3 years back I found my LB it has had a bit done, sort of & it is my ugly daily now. Still not finished but gets me around,....slowly.
I hope to finish some wheels I have been restoring soon & once I can find some GH front struts, lower it & put up some pics.
Once it looks better I am going to change over my carby & exhaust & try to get it moving a lil more.

Thats a wicked story. I love it. Your story galvanises the reasons why we do what we do. I too have had a love for early Lancers since I was a kid in the 70's. My first exposure was seeing one in a car yard and being the young dreamer focused on the model since then. BTW, I have also fixated on other mech things in my life. (motorbikes, scooters, fiats, VW's etc etc etc). As you may read from my posts I have had a few Lancers over the years with a huge gap in the middle. Whilst I have two Lancer cars here with me in Brissy (rally car and restore project road car for the young lad) I still have one 78 Lb 4 door stored at my brothers place in Nth Western Sydney along with a heap for other panels etc. Not sure what to do with this car in Sydney. Its big $ to get it to Brisyy and I dont have the space here to store it or the time to do anything with it at present. It is covered up in Sydney but it cant stay there for ever.
My Brother's not into Mitsu's, he is pro rally stuff and has a huge range of histroc Escort stuff as a hobby.
Do you know anyone how is after a good shell and 1600/5 speed combo? If I had a few gorillas I would make it into a track day car, but I have other priorities at present. It is a project for someone else I think.
