Front brakes

Hey
I have a 77 lancer with disk front brakes.
The pads were missing when i got the car on sunday, and i am now putting it all back together.
Were the hell do these little wire type spring clips goo..
I figured 1 out
but the other i really can't work it out.

They lock the pad protector in place ...but trying to quote the manual re-installation process is as good as useless without pics.
Speaking of pics...you need to get some up!

Ok, I'll give this a shot!
1. Remove the retaining pins again. (the two pins that go over the top of the brake pads)
2. The "K spring" (closest to your fingers) is placed over the inside pad. The clip part goes over the top, and the spring sits inside the pad.
3. Replace the retaining pins, going over the top of the ends of the wire
4. The "M spring" then goes under the retaining pins as well. The smaller clip bit should fit inside the hole in the pad.

It's pretty much my exact car, only you found it a few weeks after my one gets completely wiped out....that makes me ANGRY!

a Dead lady donated it to the church... And i found it on tradinpost.
was 900 bux but when i get there it was a 21 year old dude.. im like man.. say it got stolen and hear's 200 bux for your pocket.. Dont tell any1, he agreed...
It was a steal but front brakes were pulled apart.

Hey, nice two poster. Have been watching two posters
on ebay can get some bargins at the moment, just gotta
get them close to home.
The Lancer looks pretty clean (not much rust).

Hey, COBWBS...My front guards survived untouched up at Kinglake, along with a few other bits and pieces that I'd put in the shed too.
Seeming I don't seem to have an LB to put this stuff in, you want 'em?

And, by the way...I drove to this motorkhana, participated in it all day, and then drove home with more than 90% blockage to the radiator core...it had been overheating all day, but it was still pulling similar times to a drift prepared R-31 Skyline. (1s faster)

Yea man it's rad..
Found it on tradingpost a while ago.. got it for 1350bux!!
It's got no rust at all.. None.. Front gaurd some1 kicked in but other then that
pritty good..

The ends of the springs clips also usually go through the holes at each end of the retaining pins although some earlier models have no such holes and they spring clips just go under the pins. Yyou have to turn the pins so the spring ends go in. It usuually best to put one end in one pin and then put it over the pad tab and in the other hole in the other reatining pin at teh same time. One is a K spring/clip (inside pad) and the others a M spring/clip (for outside pad). They go on the friction material side of the brake pads and clip over the tabs on the metal backing plate of the pad.

Yep they just sit in the recess,I was told they were anti rattle clips too.Some mechanics just have them sitting on shelves...just have to be lucky.
