Thermostat relocation

Post by Rokinfreekapotamus »

Is it worth doing the relocation of the thermostat on the magna conversion? I see people choose different things and I would really just like to know whether it's worth it or will it cause issues not doing etc etc

Cheers

The only "issue " is that you will need to use a Magna Head.

The main problem, if you don't relocate the thermostat housing to the front, is the possibility of getting an air pocket in the head for the first 2 cylinders. Because the engine slopes back, in a RWD setup, the rear water port is lower than the front water port.

If you have some type of a water bleed on the highest point of the front water port, it possibly could alleviate that problem.

Cheers.

Ok great, thanks guys that clears it up a bit. I'm not looking to work it just yet, but who knows really. Probably best to get it done anyway.

Don't suppose anyone knows of someone in brisbane that does this?

Last EFI 2.6 I done I just modded the front of the intake to accept some 32mm pipe and ran a Meziere inline t-stat housing, one before that was an oem style thermostat but I had to run a modified Mazda 12a cas as an astron dizzy fouled on the t-stat housing
