I need shorter shocks then camira ones

Post by B20 »

Hey guys, my sigma track car is seriously low and i have NO suspension travel in the front, camira shocks arnt short enough, what other shocks could i use that are shorter then camira ones and plenty stiff? i do realise i will have to cut the strut down, the shorter the better :)

Cheers Jake

Have your struts been shortened to the camira length???

I have shortened struts with camira inserts and adjustable coil overs in my galant and its about 3" lower than stock and still has heaps of travel.

Karl, can you measure your strut body for me? Wan't to compare it to the ones I have. I need some real short ones for the new setup. (Along with some RCA adjusters, longer again control arms, etc. etc.)

Skyline, as mentioned above

I have R31 Skyline inserts in my Struts. Shorten the strut tube by 40mm and you reduce the overall length by 70mm

But dont forget, the spring determines the ride height, not the strut length

hey sigma project what are you talking about when you say the spring sets the ride height ?
i dont see that ,unless you dont use coilovers ! do you run standard dia springs with no adjustment :(
oh man its 2010 ! get some coilovers then the insert set the maximum height not the spring
sorry to hi jack ,carry on

Hoonboy, I'l measure maybe on the weekend, car is not at my place currently been getting around on the R1 as the galant needs a few items attended to.

B20 - You failed to answer my question, again.

Before I had my struts shortened they would bottom out over big bump(and this was with 300lb springs!) now I have shitloads of travel left with over 3" lower than factory.

Thanks, no rush, it will be a while until I get to the front suspension changes. At the moment I can only go about 2inches lower then stock before I start to run out of suspension travel, looking for another inch or two lower (with other changes to make it still handle)

I got these for my build, worked out about half the price of buying from the koni dealer here in aus,
8611-1257 Race, 143mm stroke, 290mm body, 43.5mm Diamiter http://www.summitracing.com/parts/KON-86111257RACE/
If you need to go shorter than this somethings wrong :)
There also compression and rebound adjustable.
