Starion brakes on GK - min tickness of rotors

Post by karl_2ltgc »

I just want to confirm starion struts will bolt in to a gk and what the min thickness of a front starion rotor is?

Also are they much of an upgrade for a street car?

The strut tops won't fit but you would just use the GK ones.

The Starion rotor
Original Thickness is 24mm
Final thickness is 22.4mm.

Sigma are 256mm and solid.
Starion are 256mm AND vented.
They would weigh a bit more so the unsprung mass would increase but they would be less susceptible to brake fade.

Over all, a bonus for hard driving.
Cheers.

Scott, just gotta find a better street legal caliper to go with them.
This is what ill be puttin on my LC, but still trying to find a legal 4 pot caliper that will fit it......might just go willwood's until i get it back on the road, but then again i just want to be able to build it, race it and then rego it.

I am in the middle of putting Starion Struts into my GN. Front struts are bolt in when you change the strut tops. Here is a pic of both a GJ-GN and Starion JA strut tops :

The rear rotors and callipers are bolt on for a Scorpion diff.

I also have done some research on GJ-GN brakes vs Starion JA brakes. As well as alternative brake pads:
