Hay Dude ,was thinking of going in for a look around. I will be taking the sigma ,as its currently doing the duties as the family car. Im only a few ks (5 or 6) from King edward ,not much of a cruise, but if you end up in there let us know where you might park up ,could meet in there. Please note ,will have kids and the musses along for the ride.
It is a bit late notice, but hopfully you get a few more replys too.
P.S If its pissing down ,wiil stay home.

Cool vid, nice job. Perhaps I should expand on what I said before about "didnt do a very good time ". I actually only saw it do one run and it followed some open wheel cart type missiles. So, for all I really know it might of been fastest in its class.I just got a kick out of seeing it there.

I only got to see 2 of his 4 runs,
because it was 2.6T it runs in the 4.4 Litre class.

So he was up against V8s, and did pretty well!

An open diff wouldnt have helped his times, but looked good when he stepped on it :D

But man those Open wheelers were FAST!!!

I took heaps of footage and will make up a highlights vid, ill post it soon.

And Thanks im glad you liked my vid :)
The music is from a couple of mates of mine in a muck around band,
thought they would get a kick out of it too

Yeah dude I saw it do one run ,basically dug the road out, so much power, mixed emotions seeing it for me, in a previous life before kids and mortgage I was/is XY fan but cant afford it now, that’s what I like about the Mitsus ......relatively cheap.
But that Falcon at the Hill climb was very cool indeed.

Sorry if these vids dont work, i downloaded them and now it says my Abode player isnt upto date so i havent been able to watch them yet...

Here is a fairly lame vid of the Galant, i only got to see one run.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgKtoTuA-Zg

And here is the Falcon, again pretty late in the day so he might have done abit more earlier in the day.
We sat around till the end to watch another run and on his last run he blew the auto on start off....

You could smell the fuel he was running from behind the hill haha

TR11KY, that was an aggresive single spinner :P
Anyone know how Pete went over all?

Wish we had some decent roads around here ________ flat! (oh... and some other than the drag strip!)
[/rant] lol

Nick.

PS: cheers for posting up the footage.

Heya guys thanks for anyone who checked it out kind words vids and pics etc. TR11KY ran well, but i was very much trying to keep it off the fence so i was quite relaxed into the pinch and a few other places.

Tyre pressures were low on front from trying to get the turns earlier in the day while it was wet so it had a real hard time turning the bogey hole hairpin but arguably the diff was the hugest let down. Soon as i hit off camber, slippery tar or wet it would spin the right rear. Spent the day trying to get traction and fight understeer but it was great fun!

Best time i managed was 50.32 on my last run.

Having spent so much time looking at TR11KY on blocks it was just great to get her out and drive it! Next year with better suspension (not stock!) maybe some semi slicks and the LSD diff id expect to land times much faster!

How tidy was the galant!!!!

So do you know how you went overall or in your class TRIIKY?
Or waiting for results to be posted to you?

Cheers mate you did well.

But most importantly you kept it off the wall and had fun :D

And Buladelah is in March, so keep that in mind!!!

im hoping to be entered this time!

I can remember when it was all public road.

You could accelerate down the hill past the pavilion and hit the START LINE at 80 kph :D

:o man that next corner must have been balls in your throat at high speed! I was finding it hard to settle in on exit and the camber was quite scary at speed reached in the short distance to it from the current start...

Dan
I think i was in the order of 50-60 something out of 75 cars entered. Some key things form my learnings to get my car into the 45-46 bracket next year
-LOCKED OR LSD diff - (i didnt see any other open diffs at all!)
-semi slicks
-solid tuned suspension
-psi front 36 and rear 30 as opposed to 30 all round.
-better matched turbo
-push harder into the pinch and work on my launches. Im still having a hard time finding the best way to launch her.

There were very few completely street cars and i believe i was one of a precious few first timers on the day. It's daunting let me put it that way.

I think you did pretty bloody well all things considered!

Haha its a funny feeling when you are sitting there waiting to start and the butterflies creep in and make you abit nervous, sweaty palms, and everyone watching...

depends what you want to do and how far you want to go but getting some drive out of your Diff would make a huge difference to start with

Yeah Like SigmaProject i remember back when you could drive through the bottom section, I was on my P's and had a 'super quick' 1.5 76 Honda Civic for a first car, putting out a rattle filled 30Hp, if i was lucky haha

But it was fun to go flying through where the skate park is, and use the concrete Blocks (put there to stop rocks falling onto the road)
as a Chicane
I would hit 70 or 80 by the time that first big right hand turn came up, washed of about 40KPH through Understeer and gutless power HAHA

I am pre-skatepark :(

No skatepark and before the rocks started falling. The only thing we had to worry about was inconsiderate surfers strolling along our race track.

I think every young bloke in Newcastle honed their driving skills in King Edward Park. And we got to use the full park, up around the flower gardens . The sound from the exhaust bouncing off the stone walls through the garden area was something else.

My missile of the times was a Triumph Herald with the optional 50 bhp high performance motor :D

And no RBT and no radar (A)
