hey all, my name is alex. im about to buy a 1979 lancer. my family is no foreigner to mitsubishi/chryslers. previous cars weve had include an la lancer, two door galant, a few magnas and a couple of sigmas. the car im about to buy requires a new bonnet in order to get rego. the current bonnet i gone beyond repair. if anyone knows where i can get another bonnet or someone wrecking a 1979 lb or lc lancer please let me know.

hey dave thanks for the link. im only 18. they were all my dads cars. havent got many pics of the car. but its sort of on standby for me. basicly i told the current owner i would take the car if i can get a bonnet lined up for it. thanks to you this might be possible.

How bad is the bonnet on it?

Just as a teaser here's my LC

Just bog it up (patch it) paint it black, and then find a bonnet later.
They pop up from time to time.

thats the same colour as the same colour as the one i should be getting. the bonnet is seriously gone though. there are several major rust holes. the rest of the car is imac. it looks like someones thrown something on the bonnet

Welcome and good luck on your hunting. Hopefully you have a better chance of getting one down there then one from the wreckers up here. Here is just an example of what "quality" we have at the only wreckers with oldschool parts in brisbane.

thanks everyone. hey woops the bonnet of the one im looking at looks alot like the blue one from the first picture. however the sad thing is i wont purchase the car if i cant get a bonnet because with rust like that the car wont be able to get rego

just did. ive seen a few picturs of it. i would love a 2 door galant but there are barely any left. ive founbd a 2 door lancer but am in the process of finding a bonnet for it. if i cant find a bonnet i wont buy the car. you wouldnt happen to know any wreckers in sydney?

Carlos at Sports Classic I think has a blue LB hatch. Also have you tried Pick 'n' Pull at Blacktown.

My dad currently has a red GC hardtop.

Hi Alex It's wayne from the motorshow with the pws sigma im glad you check us out & joined S-G i hope you find a lancer bonnet & get the car? you want.

All the guys on S-G are great mates or better now your new brothers with eyes for cars & parts everywhere whats not around S-G guys will sniff it out don't worry parts & cars turn up out of no where.

finally bought the car guys. its sitting in front of my house. just needs a good polish and the bonnet to be painted. already started sanding the bonnet

ill get some up tomorrow its pretty dark. i started polishing to bonnet to see what happens and the paint came back up so im cheering. ive always wanted one of these. the car broke down on the way home. the battery was dead but my mates came and bailed me out.
