Hi my name is Justyn from Melbourne eastern suburbs, Ive just bought a GD Galant rally car which I found being stored in a backyard. Its in need of a tidy up but is pretty solid and it started with jump leads right away after sitting for 2 years. Its got a 2 litre astron motor(not sure what), 5 speed box , locked diff , webers and an alloy cage. Its been a rally car since 1983 and has a CAMS logbook. Trying to find out a bit of info about it and in the short term, it will be used for autocrosses etc.
Cheers

Its in great condition! Amazing for a car that's been rallying since the early 80's. Well done. (H)

It looks like the astron is a non balance cam motor, the same as I had
Looks good

Thats what the bloke I bought it off said it was. What car had this engine in it from factory?

Theres a bit of rust under the back windscreen that needs fixed, but theres another car that came with it that I might be able to cut the piece out.

They were jap import motors out of galant GTOs ( I think ). It probably would have had twin down draught carbies
I think we paid $100 each for the ones we bought, in the early to mid 80s
