ok so couldnt get much done this weekend,
but did a bit today, decided to swap the tailshaft
180 degrees, but then realised that
at the back where bolts onto diff
the unis moved side to side ok, but moving up a down felt stiff and notchy
these where new unis when the transplanted the diff from the spare
they either weren't greased properly
or off centre when put in. so guess there damaged now

so put the one i painted few posts before, has old unis innit
but better than the ceased clunky one
so took for drive for a bit today
feels better alot better
think all the vibration in back end is gone. sweet :D

Image
shouldve taking better pic but the red matches the pedders springs and shocks, and shelby sway bar
the diff really needs cleaning up and painting rusty as fark
but will when figure out if can beef it up a bit.

was pretty hot today (high 30's), ol gurl was getting lil warm lol
and power steeering still farked kept failing, always seemed to be on
big corners lol, gasing it then die half way round the corner lol. me dad thinking maybe the strut that had been
welded down the bottom quite few posts before, must have something to do with it
cos we had the box rebuilt
pump rebuilt, new belt, the extra cooling piping put on
hope we can get to the bottom of it,
cos really annoyin to drive like that.

also forgot to say
got the spare gearbox back mid last week, checked over new bearings etc
Image

over a week or so getting some engine work done
cant wait

Coming along nicely mate. By any chance have you got a airlock in your steering box? You can bleed them by the nipple on the box. I had a similar problem on a Starion i bought, and the car would struggle to turn left and the pump would get extremely hot.

Thanks Man, yeah trying to do things properly
nothing more frustrating then getting ev thing done quick
then something fails and have to do again.

Thats what we were thinking, was at the place for 3days
they culdnt find anything wrong, a replaced the kit for the box anyway
picked up yesterday, was working sweet last right corner to our house
bam freakin locked up again, bearing in mind was middle of the day and over
40 degrees, but still not happy.

they reckon shuld self bleed, but i dont reckon thats rite
im no expert though, it seems to be the only thing culd be, ev thing else has been done
gonna drive it a bit more and see, still frustrating though.

thanks for the idea, will suss it out thanks

:) one of the interesting things about older cars is that they do what engineering dictates they shouldnt!

They have these funny little quirks and interesting character flaws, that you just dont get from buying a new car!

Thats why i love sites like this, because you can share your experiences, and you can learn from other peoples experiences, trials and mistakes.

Got spare radiator back today
Image
doesn't look much different from outside
but under the cap...........
Image
you can see has been moded to a 3 core.
should keep nice and cool now :P lol :@ it better ahhaah

unfortunately still stuck with this under the bonnet........
Image

for a bit longer :(
but now got the radiator
think we got ev thing together to do it properly

and also can see bonnet rubber at back missing
searched every siggy at the wreckers
found a nice soft one
thought theyd all be the same
but theres 9 clips on the GSR
and the one i found had 8 clips
so the holes dont match up :(

I bought a head from a TR Magna from the original owner, and it was a M4 with roller rockers.

He assured me that it was the original head.

blocks been painted up, flushed out etc

bores weren't to bad apparently
just lip at the top

and this is the old head off the GSR....not too bad either

And nice clean pistons and crank now
Image

and apparently some stage of its life may have had a magna bottom end put in it???
