Nah it should be fairly easy, I done an LT10s on an SR20det a few months back and it worked this one is pretty much the same apart from the sequential ignition

Re: G spec GH
had a play today and put the tank sump on
Why did i opt for this over a surge/swirl tank or a fuel cell....well i dont like the idea of fuel system components in the boot on a street car and theres no room underneath for a surge tank plus i like the look
even with an external surge it will still have a tiny pickup tube and have problems supplying enough fuel
before doing any work on a fuel tank make sure it is professionally cleaned, i got mine steamed cleaned at my local radiator shop
heres the sump, made by competition engineering has two 1/2" ports
once you decide where you want it you need to drill some 2.5" holes a template is provided, mark and drill the pilots holes then run through with a hole saw
look fuel tank + flame and no boom boom, like i said get it cleaned well and it will be 100% safe to cut/weld
Oh heres that tiny pickup tube
welded
I had to cut and fold the sump to follow the profile of the tank, a sump to suit a mustang is already the correct shape
painted...yeah i know i said i was going to powdercoat it but meh its still sexy

yeah... i like that. heaps better idea than a surge tank in the boot .
Whats the legal side of cutting and modifying the tank? do you have to go through anything extra?

needs to meet ground clearance and dimension adr's, it may effect the vehicle’s departure angle but who knows its not something that needs o be certified, all i can do is drive it and see how the fuzz take it81GL wrote:Whats the legal side of cutting and modifying the tank? do you have to go through anything extra?
A boot mounted fuel cell/surge tank needs to be certified, boots need to be fully sealed from the passenger compartment and drains need to be incorporated into the install in case of fuel spill/leak

Great job on the Fuel tank Mick!!
Ha if you get pulled over for the fuel tank, that will be the least of your worries with what you are doing under the bonnet ;)
Atleast it will be black and harder to spot!
Also if you dont already have it, I have a copy of Microteck LT series wiring diagram book.
I can send you, or anyone else a copy.

cheers Dan
I dont think i'll cop much grief with the tank, though i think you may be right about the engine bay mods
funny thing is, I was driving this every day and passing a lot of cops even got pulled over for a breath test and they dont even care to question me about it
Thanks for the LT manual offer and yes i do have one here, though John from Microtech has drawn up a wiring diagram for me as its a somewhat unique configuration
Got that purple people eater going yet ??

Re: G spec GH
time for an update
well theres been a lot done since my last progress report and its now running with the EFI
it now has
*ported heads, comp cams valve train, comp cams 280h cam, comp SS roller rockers
*36-1 trigger wheel, custom magnecor ignition leads,
*had to re route the brake lines to clear the ignition coils
*cut the front of the intake plenum and change the angle of the throttle body to clear the bonnet
*re routed engine bay wiring, move battery to boot
*wire in microtech
*new 85 amp alt (sigma alt with V6 commo internals)
*shift light in tach face, its a single 10000 mcd 3mm led and its bloody bright controlled by the ECU
*water pump warning light in temp gauge face
*rebuilt manualized trans with kevlar bands rabestos clutches (1 extra) 3000 rpm stall
* Hurst Pro-matic shifter in modified factory consul
Still needs a few things done then its off to Castlehill Exhaust to get tuned

lol its like Mitsubishi designed it for the controller, dont have the GT42 any more though I wish i did theres a heap of room on the drivers side
mstrrab1992 yep its legal registered and engineered, The next engine swap im planning will push the limits but I have the OK from my engineer and it JUST fits in to the RTA guide lines by a few cc's, its a smarter option and one that I should have gone with from the beginning, good thing is the Microtech is already configured to run the planned engine.... funny that

Re: G spec GH
well siggy is on a diet now its waaaayy to fat, so im stripping all the stuff that makes it comfortable (kind of)
I'll edit this post with a list of mods/removed bits and what they weigh
so far i have remove the sound proofing and under felt that was 22kg
drivers seat 18.5kg
passenger seat 17kg
Im tossing up what seats im going to fit, theres 3 reasons im swapping seats
1 drivers seat is broken
2 need fixed back seats for racing
3 std seats are heavy mofos
I have a choice of two seats one is 7kg without rails (on right) and the other is 9kg with rails (middle)
