Ok... So thing are going to pick up in here tomorrow.. Now the ute is being pushed aside to bring this forward.

My goal is to get this done ready for my p's :) a couple months.

What I'm going to do is;

Fix the paint up (back to yellow)
Get it running again
Send it off for a full dyno tune
Get my glass fitted in with a new windscreen
Fix up a few tiny little bits here and there (taillight housing, few little electrical bugs)
And then rego it :)

There's a few bits a want to leave out for a surprise :)
But that's pretty much it :)

Found a set of mags I like!! 15x8 and 15x7 I think they're -9

These are 15x8 -9 all round.. But these are for illustration.. Just so you know what they look like :)
Image

And this is how they sit on a gd.. So I'll need flares.

What's the go with flare legalities?? I assume an engineer will need to pass it off?

I would think flares would be a no go if they are being used to hide wheels that alter your track, which these would.

Hmmm... Can I get a mod plate for my track? :\

And isn't there a max amount you can go with track width?

i dont see why it would be a problem, 4WD guys use flares all the time, or gutter guard to extend out the guard to fit wider mud tires on their 4x4's. then again you cant breath fresh air without breaking some kind of law

Don't be fooled by "legal", if the cops want to defect you they can and will.
I have seen a few mates carry the engineers certificates in their glove boxes and still get a defect and have to run it over the pits again to get it cleared.
It is called revenue raising

yep, just seems all the cops up here are trying for high scores at the moment, 3 known defect stations this week, not including the two that where setup outside of the Downshift car show on the weekend, and they arent in denial or anything, openly admitting they are targeting modified cars :@

So I had Jon come around friday to help get the old girl do run.. No luck

First up the wire for the coil was wrong (I plugged the wrong power wire up) :stupid:

Then the coil was buggered anyway! But seeing as I don't run a ballast resistor, I had to get a gt40/su12. Not the gt40r I had.

Came back home, put the new coil in, and! No start

Found out the jets had crap in them, so the are was filling up with fuel. So the carb was now better than it was but still no start. The previous owners had fiddled with the carb a lot so I figured I'd find out a standard tune for it :google:

Run the standard tune and it half fired but didn't sound good at all! Like it was firing on the up stroke :\ so I stopped there hopping I haven't bent a valve yet.

So I reckon my timing is out, so I'll get onto that maybe this arvo?? And see how I go :)

Meanwhile I picked up a tacho for it! It's a start to my gauge collection I'll run :)

it was nothing man, was good to learn how to set the dizzy up correctly. you will need to get one of those workshop manuals :P now bolt that cross member in so the hooning can commence

Final issue on this was the dizzy was a few teeth out. easy fix, but it was easier since we had a running car to use as a cheat sheet, aswell as the workshop manual :P

Cheers

Oh don't worry! The crossmember is in and I was just about to take it for a spin until I realised this;

1; the battery is a truck battery and I can't close the bonnet.

And 2; my fuel tank is a 1.25L coke bottle tie wired to the rad support!

Haha :P but I did get to reverse it into the shed :) went through 3.5L of fuel just playing around with it for 10-20 minutes! Lol. It's running very poor! But now I can get these carbs onto it and send it off to a dyno :)

So... I go out this morning to start her up and... Nope. It won't start. Played around a bit and still nothing. So before I start getting frustrated and annoyed, I'll do something else :)

So today I'm going to tidy it all up. Sort out the mess in my boot and put it all on the shelf.

Also, I've realised why I have constant reverse lights!

Some wanker decided to wire them together at the inhibitor switch plug! :ban: lol. So off to supercheap to buy a roll of wire and do that :)

Yea I was! :D Jon wet himself too :P

To quote "holy crap that's lumpy!" :D

But the progress is slowly but surely :) I have an issue with the front though :/ I have the parkers, and the low beams that work. But I hit high beam and only the outer passenger light stays on. The rest die

Also, that's my younger brothers 74 TA torana 2 door :) nice looking thing but rough as guys up close unfortunately :/ can post a pic if ya want? :)

And this is how tight it is in my shed :\
Image

There's 2 cars, 2 motorbikes, a large scooter, a buggy, a push bike, and the little cut out for the shelves. All in under a 8x8m shed. Lol.

Think of it as a theft deterrent :P

 I'm going at 4 today :) but I won't be able to "have" them until next week. Because I bought the carbs yesterday, I can't afford these! :P

So I'm gonna take a lot of measurements of my car. And go up with them and make sure they will fit. Put a deposit on them, and then next week, go get em :D but trust me! I'm paying for em.. They aren't in Australia so they are from the states. He got shipped the wrong colour and they won't pay postage back over ($500).

I'll probably go a set of Falken ze912's or something in 195/50r15. A neat stretch and a good tyre, fairly cheap. :)
