A woodgrain interior
Just a thought guys
what are your thoughts on pieces of trim made out of woodgrain for a GJ Sigma
The pieces i was intending on using was the:
steering wheel
gear knob (manual)
handbrake lever
pieces of centre console
the tops of the door skins
the black strip that sits in the middle of the dash board (it runs just ontop of the glove box)
the interior itself was planned to be all black velour with autometer gauges
(N.B. the timber will NOT be woodgrain contact.....it will be actually polished timber)
+ve or -ve feedback is encouraged as i do expect to see a fair bit of -ve criticism from it...(if it is -ve tho......make sure its only feedback/criticism as im not interested in seeing a bunch of posts telling thats its a sh!t idea and leaving it at that.....if you dont like it....at least give me your reasoning......i am keen to here your thoughts on it)

Re: A woodgrain interior
sadly......will be quite a while till its done.....(like...couple of years)
but hopefully..once my custom bootspace project is completed (will have "MITSUBISHI" worded in the boot space and the mitsubishi triple diamond embedded in), i'll rip into a few bits like the door skins and show you what i had in mind

Re: A woodgrain interior
Personally I think it would suit the rounded more retro mitsis pre 80, as apposed to the boxy modern post 80s style of the GJ

I think it suits boats and Bentleys

Sorry I will not lie, really, REALLY not a fan of woodgrain. The real stuff is better than the contact but I just can't like it.
Many do I have accepted with that, lol

I don't mind wood grain, but IMO it doesn't suit every car.
Agreed that real stuff looks better

Re: A woodgrain interior
i think wood is a great idea but it might be hard work to make it work well with your black velour interior theme? Wood normally works best when teamed with natural colours. I think tan, black and wood is a safer bet.
Check out some 80s interiors that do work well with wood and try and work out why. I can't think of any 80s japanese woodgrain interiors off the top of my head that i would consider awesome- maybe check some 80s euro barges for inspiration?
Personally i've always wanted to but boards down in the back of my GE wagon but haven't thought how to handle the folding rear seat yet.
Check out the JDM sigma wagon brochure below about 2/3 the way down.

There's a sigma wagon with "wood" panelling down the sides and there's also several different interior colour combos we didn't get here including a nice tan, black and wood grain wheel and gear knob.

Re: A woodgrain interior
For some late model combo's that look okay with wood google image search 'legnum leather'
The 1996-2000 VR4's had a pretty good colour combo in the type V's. I bought a type S because they had carbon dash and black leather only wheel, lol
