Can I please have an idea of which Insurance Company is the best for Insuring a "heavily modified" LC Lancer for an "Agreed Value" I haven't had to look around for this for a long time.... but will now be soon needing to arrange something !
i hate them with a passion, but Just Car will accept just about any mod as long as it's engineered. Shannons are similar (used to be with them in my corolla days) but they don't like it if you don't have a perfect driving history.
looking to start an mechanical apprenticeship, if you know of anyone in Melbourne or Gippsland who's looking for a first year, let me know!
both my cars are with shannons at agreed values, they were really good with this, if its engineered or mod plated by transported, you have no worries at all. i had to mod plate my scorp.

yep, i'm going back with Shannons when my GH is done, if they'll take me, lol my history isn't exactly clean though lol.
I remember when I was getting quotes from places for my Corolla, one time I called them, I got some lady who when I told her that I had a 1986 Corolla twin cam, proceeded to ask me a whole bunch of questions like am I with a car club etc, and then when i answered no to all of them, she said they couldn't help me. So i e-mailed them and basically said WTF? A manager called me back the next day and said they could most certainly insure me, apologized for the lady and asked me if I knew had gotten her name, when i said I hadn't he told me that she was lucky because he would've given her an official warning lol!

No body would touch mine, being a competition car though I wasn't surprised, so third party for me.
I just get really nervous driving it in traffic with all those clowns, and make sure its tucked up in the shed at home away from sight when we're not away with it.
Sound like Shannons will be my first port of call and I will try Vigil & Just Car as well.
I asked RACV about "market value" - they said it would be insured for about $900 (the premium for one year was that amount!!) .... so I asked about "Agreed Value" - and they said the highest they could go was $1500 I had a look at thier "classic insurance" ..... but they had to be an agreed "collectable car" - so that not happening either. I'm hoping for something in the range of 5-10k agreed !
It will be "Engineered" so I'm not concerned in that regard
Just for interest.
I'm with GIO.
I've got vintage car insurance with them.
Your car has to be over 31 years old to be eligible.
You have no limitations on when you can drive your car (unlike NRMA)
I have agreed value
and I also have a disposal option (so I get to keep it if it gets smashed and they pay me the agreed value as well)
Plus, because i have my car/ bike and house insured with them I get a discount.
and because I combined my greenslip as well my insurance cost me $520 (that's comprehensive and green slip)
I'm very happy, I don't think that it can be easily beat.
I've got heaps of fines lost my licence twice and am 37 just for the record.
My galant has agreed value of $4000 as well.

I was asked how much I spent.
But I'm sure you could insure it for more, only problem is you'd probably have to pay a higher premium calculated on the risk level they are taking.
I don't know how much would it cost to insure my galant for $20000?
The temptation to try to get a pay out like that was be pretty high.
My point to them was if you comprehensively insure your car, and it gets written off, they take the car, and pay you market value. Market value of my car is low, so my car is worth more to me in pieces than market value.
Thus I did not want to comprehensively insure it.
That was when GIO told me about that deal.
If my car was only 3rd party insured my green slip was going to be a lot more.
It was cheaper to comprehensively insure it and get a green slip than if I 3rd partied it.
Does this make any sense?
