Re: 1974 LA Lancer Classic Rally Build
Just found this thread (dont check here much) and this is fantastic.
Few questions (might have read over them and missed it)
1 - What rear suspension arm setup are you running? Leafs, 4 link, 5 link, panard rod, watts link?
2 - How much are the front MCA's setting you back? I'm looking at getting Bilstein's for my 2.6 LC rally car but curious as to other options.
3 - The plastic protectors on the front of the rear wheel arches did you home make those?
4 - Do you have a pic of your light bar and where the lights bolt onto? Saw how it bolts to bumper (which is what im thinking of doing).
I'm running a 4.6 Hilux LSD in my LC with R31 discs and calipers, working a treat (passed engineering brake test). Thought I may have a little more torque than you.
I also run 14" to fit over the brakes as most of my 13" wheels foul.
Great build, really happy to see it coming along nicely.
Maybe enter it in a show and shine comp before taking it out for the first time to see how you go?
Cheers
Matt
PS - I should really get a build topic up of my LC....its only taken 2yrs haha

Re: 1974 LA Lancer Classic Rally Build
Thanks for comments, much appreciated.
Rear Suspension - at moment it has leaf springs from a Galant Wagon - wider and thicker to help stop them winding up & twisting. It currently has Bilstein shockies but these are only there for the build. previously ran Konis but broke them pretty easily. we will have a set of rear arms mad to go from rear axle housing to brackets incorporated into body near front spring eye - these have been picked up by the roll cage to give better rigidity.rear springs may have to be changed as think may be a bit stiff - car had a traction problem on the dirt and we may have to lighten them up to get better power to the ground on the dirt.
MCA's - haven't got a quote yet - Murray won't look at the car till engine & g/box etc are in car - he will do the whole suspension set up shocks, springs, rear arms, ride heights and corner weighting the car.
Protectors - home made - take sometime with a heat gun and mould (you have to build one - we did from wood)
Light Bar - it isn't finished yet as haven't welded on the tags that the lights will bolt onto - running 2 super oscars (up) and 2 oscars (down) with HID kits in them plus HID kits in the headlights
cheers

Must...mash...like...button. The ITB injection set up on your G63B is super clean, really nicely designed!

Thanks for the feedback, yeah we are pretty happy how it is turning out, but unfortunately it does take time.
THE ITB's had to come from the UK, only place we could find what we wanted sizing wise as there isn't a lot of space between manifold and strut tower to fit ITB's and air filter and make sure we get uninhibited airflow to all tubes.
The tappet / valve cover is currently away getting powder coated.
cheers

Been a long long time, life got busy, back on track! Lancer has been bubbling along and is very near complete.
Always a few headaches ... telling none of you anything you didn't already know
Here are a few pictures of progress, cannot wait to give it some.
