Looks good.
I've almost finished a GJ sigma with vp v6 and auto trans. Won't be anywhere near as good as your galant power/weight ratio.
Will post pix when done.

the engine conversion was done in a 2 car garage (as were all the mods on the gallant) by me and the original owner (sold it to me as he is very ill) hardest thing about the conversion was getting it engineered and doing the transmission tunnel.
have thought about putting this engine in my scorpion and getting a v6 supercharged and dropping it into the gallant.....
a lot of effort but it would be worth it i guess

In all honesty how hard was this shit?? I have just bought a GD wagon and I will use the top of the drivers door to
fix my Coupe drivers door. Also I have a rear end plan and will be using the wagon rear bumper on my Coupe.
Story is I might use the wagon as an everyday jobbie but the 1600 is poo on a poo stick so need to sort that out.
I am thinking a 3.0 Magna should suit a Sigma 5spd???
As best I can tell the early V6 Magnas used the same box as the 4cyl Magnas so by that thought I reckon a 3.0 V6 shoud bolt up to a Siggy 5spd???
Anyone have thoughts??

The gearbox itself may have been the same between 4cyl and V6 Magnas but the bellhousing certainly isn't. The 6G7x engines have a distinctly shaped bellhousing pattern which is unique to that series V6. An MK Triton V6 2WD box would do the trick though, they have the strong R5M31 gearbox as opposed to the earlier KM132/R5M22 found in Starions which are weak in comparison.Galant_GT0 wrote:In all honesty how hard was this shit?? the guy that built it with me used customised V8 commodore engine mounts.
the whole transplant wasn't that hard, we used the standard commodore gearbox, diff and computer even cruise control and airconditioning. the hardest thing in it all is getting it engineered.
best option is to talk to an engineer and get him into the build early so he knows what you are doing.
going into a sigma/scorpion will be a bit easier with room in the bay and also the transmission tunnel i'm guessing would be bigger.
if you do go down this track, buy a complete commodore and just use everything you can.
V6 conversions in Moree NSW supplied me with a lot of stuff (speedo sensor, power steering imobiliser etc). get in contact with them and go from there.

UPDATE-
just purchased a brand new rear venetian for the Galant from Getashade (EBAY) should arrive within the week.
Paid $200 direct to my door which i thought was pretty cheap.
am going for the grandpa sleeper look, a bit like lethal.
am heading down to the lawn bowl shop to buy myself a bowls hat for the parcel tray and the look will be complete haha

The motor looks like it should be there!

the venetian is just awesome, got it through ebay (getashade i think) ordered it on a monday arrived on friday (from SA to country north coast NSW) takes like 10 minutes to fit/remove and i think it looks the goods....

UPDATE---
recently purchased a few things for the Galant, one of those things was a pack of exhaust heat wrap for my extractors to try and cut down on some of the excess heat in the engine bay.
over the last 2 nights after work i have been slaving away putting the stuff on.
after struggling for around an hour i finally got one extractor out of the engine bay although after around 2 hours trying everything to remove the other one i finally gave up and bit the bullet and proceeded to fit the wrap while the extractor was still in the engine bay.
after like 1.5 hours, a whole lot of sweat, plenty of swearing, a few cuts and all my knuckles being skinned it was done!
(serves me right for taking the "easy" option)
this is the other one which i could remove which took me like only an hour to remove, wrap and re-fit lol
BEFORE..
and AFTER...
didnt get any pics of the other side but looks exactly the same.
all in all, this stuff works really welll, and looks pretty sweet at the same time - but if you try this at home, do it while you have whatever it is your wrapping out of the car lol...

What was difficult about engineering?
The engine CC, for car weight, would fall below national(not sure about state specific) ADR's, no?
Also, you mention you used stock ECU with cruise control and A/C
That mean you've modified your car so you have working cruise and air conditioning? :O

car drives great, plenty of power but very good on the highway. at 110km/h its just ticking over 2,000 rpm
yes the car has cruise control and am hooking up the air con in the next few months in time for summer....

the weight and cc only just works, legally in nsw you cant go any bigger, dunno about anywhere else.

i was bored so i cranked up some music and got out my detailing stuff.
gave the galant a full engine bay clean,
and even scrubbed up the underbody (yes i was really bored)
also got some shiny bits off my mates old commodore
and fitted one of 75wagon's stickers to the induction pipe.
also hacked up a spare air box to get more cold air
until i get my custom airbox made....
