Juust Bought a 1972 Galant gb
Hey my name is Lennon and with some convincing from my good friend (andrew harris88) on here i have just bought a 1972 Galant Gb. I am not sure yet wich route to take to keep the standard engine and work it, or replace it with a newer turbo"d engine, like from a vr4, or something like that. Any suggestions would be great.
Cheers Look forward to hearing from you, by the way some of the cars on here that you guys have are fully sick
Hey yeah this is what i am starting with.
I have previously owned a nissan silvia, which originaly had a Ca18det in it i done some mild upgrades, bigger turbo, front mount intercooler and 3 inch straight through exhaust only to have the thing die on the dyno.
So i then had a rb20det engine conversion, with front mount, 3 inch exhaust, raising rate fuel pressure regulator, 600hp fuel pump, microtech engine management and a custom inlet plenum that i had made by a local bloke and with alot of fucking around 6 months worth to be exact fitted myself.
So yeah alll though im not really all that mechanically minded i have been around cars quiet alot and can work through some problems it just takes me longer than your average joe.

Re: Juust Bought a 1972 Galant gb
Yeah definently want it to be rego'd
time isnt a factor and money well i dont want to go over board with it as i wasted alot of cash on my previous car, i guess i just want it to look straight with some balls it doesnt have to massive amounts of power all though its hard for me to lean away from that from my early years with cars and i have alot mates that would expect me to put something rediculas in it(rotary)
Open to some suggestions though as this is my first old car, actually i almost bought the exact model off my brother about 10 years ago.
By the way my other car or should i say wifes car is a Mitsubishi 380, so i have early generation and the new generation, i dunno i just thought that was pretty cool

Does this engine fit into galant [Mitsubishi Galant VR4 manual half cut 2.0 V6 twin turbo] any ideas

Re: Juust Bought a 1972 Galant gb
do a search in the enigne orgalant garage section, you will see bulk
4g54 (2.6l sigma engine) narrow block is the most common conversion as it is the biggest size you can have without engineering and its bolt in
no dont think the v6 wil fit, but a DOHC 4g63 will, but its a very expensive and hard process to get regoed. wouldnt reccomend it for your 1st galant. most people that try that are on their 3rd or 4th galant.
just do a search

With enough money you can make anything fit...lchilds82 wrote:Does this engine fit into galant [Mitsubishi Galant VR4 manual half cut 2.0 V6 twin turbo] any ideas

HOWEVER:
The most common conversions are to to throw in an Astron (4G52 (2 litre) or 4G54 (2.6 litre)).
More money and effort - 4G63BT (2 litre turbo).
Or you could just spice up the Saturn (hope its a 1600 -4G32- not a 1400).
Folks here have done all of these.
I think if you do the V6 (and actually finish it) you'll be the first.....

Re: Juust Bought a 1972 Galant gb
yes it will fit on the astron (4g5x) engine. that is 2.0l and 2.6l. tango76hardtop has this setup from these guys and its a very clean bolt on set up, but you have to fabricate something to hold the acc cable up above the rocker cover ;)
vervy nice set up though and would go and sound awesome

Re: Juust Bought a 1972 Galant gb
the 4g5x motors that are rear wheel drive format are commonly found in sigmas so it shouldnt be too hard to pick up a cheap sigma so you get the engine and box, ive seen sigmas sell for under $1000lchilds82 wrote:how hard would it be to get my hands on one of these engines and what cost would i be looking at had quick search of the net didnt find anything though (4g5x) engine 2.0L or 2.6L
I want to go down on you and make you really happy, then i want to come back up slowly and fuck you real good, yours sincerely Petrol prices.
Re: Juust Bought a 1972 Galant gb
I've seen them go for $50... Not much of a car, but you'd only want the mechanicals anyway...tango76hardtop wrote:ive seen sigmas sell for under $1000
Go for a GH Sigma (or Scorpian) 2.6 or a 2.0. The struts almost bolt straight in, you'll need the bigger brakes for the conversion.
Then you have to sort what gearbox? Get it right and it's easy...... Get it wrong and ______ ? Read what others and done, you'll see what I mean....
